hey do you guys think that a pup from a P bass and a J bass would sound good in a P/J combination?

i mean like harvesting two pups from two diff basses and putting them together in one P/J combo?

If the two pickups were actually good to start with and had reasonably matched output, I think you'd be fine.

I dont see why not. I have a ibanez with one of the 62 fender P pickup with a 1/4 lb jazz in the bridge and that thing is a strait tone machine. Ive messed around with other bridge pickups and they all sound pretty good or at least "open up" the sound of the P pup and bring out more clarity and fullness in the notes.

oh and you'll probably get some buzzing from it being a single single coil so you might look into some of the stacked humbucker jazz pickups. If you want to get the noise canceling ability of humbuckers.

It has been done, y'know. Plenty of P/J basses out there.

It's much better to use a humbucking J for a PJ set, typical Jazz Bass pickups aren't.
This apart, no reason why it wouldn't work.

yea i meant like having a pj bass, then taking like a 50's jazz bass pup and a 60's p bass pup and putting them in the same guitar
