Hello... I recently posted a pic of my modest pedal train and received a comment that my "wacky" connectors may eventually damage the input/output jacks on my pedals. So, I thought I'd see what the rest of you think... see pic below.

Wacky Connectors?

They have been known to damage pedals, especially if the jacks are mounted on the circuit board, because of the force when you stomp a pedal, it can stress the jacks on the ajoining pedal, as long as you're careful and the pedals are secured properly you should be fine
i use straight connectors to pedals that are the same brand so they line up and the jacks are the same height. once i neglected to do this and i bent the connector, but the pedal was fine. lots of pedals are the same footprint so i say unless it causes a noticeable amount of stress, go for it.
I'm liking the SWAW a lot. It serves up delicious, slurpy wah. It's a touch sensitive filter/wah, so I have to be conscious about how I attack the strings... I'll try to get a clip posted before too long.
re: the connectors, they are off-set to compensate for the differing levels of input/output jacks (I rotate the connector to raise or lower the level of the connector, hopefully, so when I step on the pedal, it doesn't strain the input/output jacks.
ok... i think i get it now. tonight i plugged the pedals together using six inch cables and when practicing some of the songs i do that use effects during different parts, i noticed that the pedals moved about quite a bit as i push the buttons with my foot.
i'm now beginning so see the wisdom of pedal boards... something else to stimulate GAS.

Yes, pedalboards are quite necessary IMHO. I'm surprised that I haven't ****ed up my 6 loop strip yet....

As for the connectors, instead of having all the pedals get progressively more out of line, why not flip the middle one so instead that the pedals stagger, but are more straight across than they are now?

Those ones should be fine, because they are the crank style ones, which rotate, so when you step on the pedal, causing the pedal to move up and down, the connector should just move slightly, rather then bending or damaging a jack. At least, that's the theory of it.

Well... last night at rehearsal, I plugged everything in... using the crank style on the pedals and I'll be darned if the small stone stopped working. I could jiggle the connector and get a signal to cross, but on it's own, nothing.
So, I swapped out the crankeds and plugged in the cords and behold: signal flow... worked all rehearsal.
I'll take the pedal apart tonight, but I think it was a bad plug.

Regarding the connectors: for Boss pedals, the sides are NOT perpendicular to the bottoms. So even though the jacks line up at the same height, they actually don't point straight at each other between 2 Boss pedals. Use these straight connectors with Boss pedals and you will strain the jacks.
