Wait times for custom basses now

My hats off to anyone that can wait years for an instrument like a Wal or other brands . I was more than willing to pay the price for a custom bass , but the shortest time I was given was 8-12 months and the longest was 18 months......waiting a couple of days from Sweetwater stresses me out . Just bought a faux Fodera Yin/Yang from a shop in California and it's stressing me out waiting up to seven days for delivery .:banghead:

So why are custom boutique builds taking so much longer these days than before the covid era? Longer wait times were understandable during covid but we can no longer use that excuse. Has there been a significant increase in custom orders or a decrease in custom builders?
.

That’s a good question. I have no idea. Maybe the economy is better now and people have more money to spend?

There are more and more customs builders so that can’t be it. Maybe they are more visible now with social media and everything, so people are more exposed to them?
