waiting for my fodera (daily thoughts)

However, regarding the bass he has now, I am pretty sure it has been the same one the last couple of years... A lot of rumors and stories about this bass.

Cool Story :)

My first Fodera was a Monarch just like Victor Wootens but with Kingwood fingerboard! That bass was killing, but I didn't feel it was me or my sound for some reason. My Emperor wasn't build for me, but build for a friend of mine! He was a few Fodera and some of them is for sale now Link Removed. Anyway I saw this bass and fall in love with it. The looks, how it plays and how great it sounds. But most of all it was my own personal bass! I have added the ramp because I like it and not because Bona was one on this bass ;) I love Bona and everything he does!

Here are some pics of my Emperor's big brother. I prefer 4 strings or else I would have gotten this. It just amazing

I knwo that if someone orders directly through fodera, then it's a long long wait.
but when you order through a dealer that has the order for more than a year, I think I will get my bass on time of possibly with 2 month more!

It's a refinish, an already made guitar that just needed some work, a little headstock repair and new finish. You'll probably get under the 4 year mark, but lke I said, I was quoted less than a year, and now i am over two. Not trying to scare, trying to be REAL. I've stated this before, but having expectations is just going to drive you crazy. I have already dealt with this on others that have gone way over there mark, so I expect it. I just feel like you aren't preparing for the worst. Low expectations that are exceeded are easier to deal with than high (or realistically normal) expectations that aren't met. Time wise at least.

I did not mean to piss you off, or hate, or anything like that. I just wanted to tell you, from my own experience, that having the exact same instrument as a bass legend is not always a 100% blessing because of the "image" that comes with it, and that you maybe should take this in concideration..
However, I got this bass because I liked its look, and because I love Bona, so who am I to speak? If you seriously don`t care about Bona, and whatever he plays, well, then don`t bother..just get whatever you want. I understand completely :)
In this particular case, the bass we are speaking about is a spectacular instrument in it`s own right, and not a bass anyone would buy just because it is a "fancy" signature series, so it might not even apply.
I just wanted to tell you about my experience, and feelings about this matter. If this has nothing to do with your choice, and you can`t see any problems or issues, please do not listen to me.

Anyway, the bass is great, as I said, and you are a very lucky bassplayer to be able to get such an instrument.

Hope you are not too angry, and I am sorry if I upset you.

Man I'm not pissed off, you're a bass brother, I can't be pissed off at you, I'm glad that you share your experience with me and everybody else!!
Ithought about what you said before ordering the bass and the I told myself, "what the f..k, I like the way this bass looks, I buy it"

btw. I love this bass so much that I'm going to order a similar one with 5 or 6 strings soon :hyper:

Joey will look if they still have some of the walnut that they used for this one as he told me - that'll be grrrrreat :D

I see many great instruments here and read many useful suggestions and comments. My ordered bass shall arrive at the same time as Black.Rose’s one. Here follows the spec for the bass I ordered:
- Fodera Emperor II 5, 35” 24 fret
- Alder body, solid quilt maple top
- 3 pc maple neck
- Birdseye maple fingerboard
- Duncan dual coil pickups in black plastic cases with exposed pole pieces
- Fodera Pope preamp
- Gold hardware
- Black dot position markers on fingerboard face
- On the back of the head it will be engraved a word - Ákos - (a name of my son). By this the bass will be a real unique instrument.
I will be happy if the readers of this thread will make comments, suggestions for the above spec. Any remark, proposal, idea is welcome …

ever thought about a Walnut Body ??? would be a great choice too because it seems that Walnut has it all :)


and you're right - signatures on the back are great - I also have little personal ones on my two butterflys ;)

Sounds like a great bass! You don't see that many Fodera with Alder/Maple combo! Wooten's first Yin/Yang have that combo!
Cool with own personal signature with your sons name!

the Imperial is for sale now - I called Joey and they also will be great in helping me to sell it - I've made a little mistake and did not choose the same wood combination and the same Pickup spacing like my Empi has - the Imperial is realy great no doubt but I realized that I need (!!) my Emperor tone with more strings because that IS my tone :)

sad thing but hey, it's also a great feeling when you have a Fodera on order ;):D

here are the specs of my future bass:

Fodera Imperial 5 Richard Bona model, ash body, tulipwood top, maple neck/ birdseye maple fingerboard, 34’ scale, 24 frets, ebony ramp, black hardware, Duncan dual coils, Fodera Mike Pope preamp, 2+3 headstock, deluxe Fodera hardshell case.

I may steal the idea from FGY2 to have my name engraved at the back of the head of my bass lol !

hey LENNARD IIII what are the specs of your imperial???

I once played it with E-C but now have strunged it to B-G - great low B and with the D-Tuner a even bigger low A;)
