waiting for my fodera (daily thoughts)

 please tell us how long was the promised "waiting period" (from the order acceptance up to the end of July), who is the dealer, which kind of payment you did up to date... if you think that the answers for the questions could harm you in any way - sorry.... :eyebrow:

The bass was supposedly on order from Bass Central for 2+ years when I stepped in and put a down payment on it in February of this year with a "delivery date" of "end of July 2008." To be fair, I knew this was unlikely and the folks at Bass Central said that Fodera always runs late and that it would more likely be by the end of the year.

Either way, as I have expressed before, for an instrument of this quality made the way Vinny, Joey and Vadim make them, the six months or so means nothing to me as I will be playing this bass for the rest of my life.

I paid Bass Central roughly 25% of the purchase price as a deposit...

Hope this helps!

I don't get you - Bass-Central for example offers a VW classic for ....

it's not important for you to order from german shops or eleswhere when you're from another continent

and if you would know about the delivery times of new custom orders that they could offer in the past you would cry and not believe how this could happen !!! - believe me ;)

Please read the previous thread of - Just Thumpin'

Thank you - I just want to give some evidence for Lenard III about the Bass Central and their unbelievable quick delivery time....

you're so funny FGY2 - you just don't get it :rollno:

I've never said that Bass-Central is a quick dealer, it seems no one of the us dealers is able to do sth. fast - and don't speculate about prices - make a new custom order and you'll see how high it gets - although some shop offers a similar Fodera for less dollars somewhere

sorry I can't tell you how fast Station-Music delivered (and still do with other orders) but I still can remember Nick Epifanis speechless face when I've told him about my ones :p

Hi everybody.
Today I paid the 2/3 of the bass.
still no news for now but I hope to have soon.
As I was reading the previous post,
I think that today, If you manage to have a Fodera without waiting a certain amount of time, that means that you bought an used bass
or that your dealer has ordered a bass a while ago!
But come on.
Everybody knows that when one decide to buy a brand new fodera, one must wait to receive the bass.
So we, fodera lovers and buyers sould not complain about long delivery time (wait don't misunderstand me, I'm not ready to wait 4 years !!!).

For now I'm in the "excitement mode", meaning that I'm excited to imagine that I'll have my bass next year.
and I hope nothing will get in the way!

this sentence was meant about Station-Musics delivery times - not Bass-Central

sorry, I guess I better speak german in my next post :D:hiding:

Hi everybody, just tell you that I've got news from my bass, fodera began, Glenn told me that everything was on schedule.
But I decided to change the top wood, instead of olive top, I'll have a tulipwood top.
I prefer the color (more orange, less yellow) and the fact that it has more veins.
Ok that will add one of two month waiting time, but as it will be the bass for my 30th birthday, I'm ready to wait two month more, as long as the result is perfect!

Glenn will send me pictures of tops available that fodera will send him, and Iwill choose the top.

Definitely, Glenn is top notch at what he does!

So this is this one:

But with tulipwood top...

Personnaly I don't like the SC design, but I tried this model with Walnut body/quilted maple top, maple neck/rosewood board and I liked the playability, sounded great!

That's exactly my future bass but with tulipwood top!
My god, how I want to be in 2009!!!!!!! I can't wait to have it!
I'll give a full review of this bass when I'll get it!!!
and I'll give a full review of the process with Austin bass traders for people outside the us wanting to buy a fodera (or other brand).

So it is basically gonna be a Richard Bona copy...will you have it lacquered as well? I think Bonas one is. And be sure to order it without a preamp, old Bartolinis, with a gold skull knob for the blend control, with a 3+2 headstock, and of course with a Roland GK pickup.

Now I only hope you have the chops to live up to this bass and the expectations that come with it :ninja:

I have owned a bass like this for 2 years, and I am still not as good as Bona! I don`t understand... No, seriously, they are great basses, the sound is amazing, and the playability is perfect. Something to look forward to. My only regret is that the bass is exactly like the master`s own one. In retrospect I would have preferred to have a bass that is my "own", not someone else`s(alas, I would never get something like a Miller Jazz, a Jaco Relic, or a Yin Yang..great, legendary basses, but they only look great in their master`s own hands IMO), because that is all people talk about when they see it. It`s all about Bona, when it should be about me...:)

This is why I really love Hou`s Emperor 4. It is his own bass, and no one has a similar one(although I can smell some Bona from this one as well, especially after adding the ramp). Cool!!

I think Bona`s personal bass is an older model, therefore it has some strange specifications(3+2 head etc.). He has also been modifying it quite a bit during the years as we know.

I once spoke to Bona himself a few years ago, and he said something about that he had a deal with Fodera, which was that he used his Imperial for a year, then he got a new one from Fodera. The one he had used, he signed on the back, and Fodera sold for a heap of money to collectors.. He told me this because I asked him to sign my old Anthony Jackson, and he said he wasn`t allowed to sign any other basses than his own, especially not Foderas, because of his sponsorship deal.. Strange.
However, regarding the bass he has now, I am pretty sure it has been the same one the last couple of years... A lot of rumors and stories about this bass.

First, don't hate, appreciate bass brother!!
my specs are not the same as bona, I want to have the preamp in because I like to be able to work on the EQ on my bass!
I don't want to have a 3+2 , I prefer a 2+3
I don't want bartolinis, I prefers aeros pu and no gk pick up, If want a synth sound, I'd rather use a keyboard (I play bass upright bass guitar and piano and can do pretty much what I want on each of these instruments)
Without being too cocky, I think I have the chops to play a bass like that as I told you I can play whatever I want on bass (Pastorius, miller, bona stuff anything.... classical, jazz....)

I don't want to be as good as Bona, I want to be as good as I can be, I know this bass won't remplace the one I prefer to play ( a 75 reissue jazz bass mia), but I want it to be my 5 string!

I don't care about people seeing it telling it's a bona bass (and I'm sure a lot of people except bass players won't notice it!) I want a bass that I like, and unfortunately, the bona bass, looks exactly like that, so... when I see a fender strat , I don't always think of Hendrix or stevie ray!

I guess you saw that all this was ironic (except that I do play all these instruments and that I can play a lot of things but hey, music is a leanring experience during all our life and I still want and have a lot to learn)

I'm glad that you share your experience with us (and with me:smug:)
telling me how great playing instrument it is!!
I really want to have a bass that is so easy to play, and a keeper and a bass for my 30th birthday that will stay with me until the end of my life!

it's clear that Hou's bass is a beauty, but I prefer the single cut

I don't want him to sign any of my basses,
but I think these stories are all business!
I don't care what he plays, moreover I prefered when he used to play on fender jazz basses.
but that fodera is of course a great sounding instrument!
You're right about this story , it's strange!!!

Called up again about the refin on my guitar, still not ready. But at least this time they straight up didn't tell me a date for it to be ready, which I prefer. I would be told 'it will be ready probably in two months, so you need to be patient'.

I am patient, but if you tell me a time figure, then what am I suppossed to do?

Black Rose, you better be ready for 4 years. My refin has passed 2 (less than 1 projected)

Where did you ordered it?
mine was ordered a long time ago by Glenn at ABT, and he told me that everything was on schedule. and I believe him!
I knwo that if someone orders directly through fodera, then it's a long long wait.
but when you order through a dealer that has the order for more than a year, I think I will get my bass on time of possibly with 2 month more!
