A 3.5" Levy's leather strap will take 3 pounds off the Wal instantly.
My Wal with that strap feels the same as my 8lb Fender with a "normal" skinny strap.

So quit your whining and grab that cheque book. HA

That's quite an amazing strap to do that!! I suspect my 4'' Italia will take off another pound.

Yes, most 5 string Wal will generally weigh a good solid 10-12 lbs especially if its an Mk2 since they tend to run a bit heavier. I have one 5 String Mk2 and if i remember correctly it's at 10.5 lbs.

It'll be tough, if not impossible, to find a used 5 string Wal that weighs less than 10 lbs, since it would definitely need to be a Mk3 model - and those don't pop up too often....

Right! Well, the weight is something to consider, although I do a lot of playing seated.
I've got a Sadowky USA build in progress and I'm on the wait list for another custom Wyn, so funds management is required. I was hoping to maybe do a trade with a Ken Smith Black Tiger, but that might be in a different league with the Wal.
I'll just have to admire the Wal from a distance.

So, I found previous classified posts for sold Wal basses and the weight on these 5'ers are 10 pounds or more! Much too heavy for my preference.

Mk3 is what you need to find then. But still my two Mk3 5ers; one is 10 even. and the other is 9.8. I was able to get my Mk2 5 from 11.4 down to 10.85 by going with the new lightweight schaller tuners.

Have you thought about just doing a new build? then you can specify that it needs to be light.

Paul @ Wal had a Mk3 5'er there as a demo/available that had roasted (sycamore?) facings. it was supposed to be in the low 9's, don't know if he sold it or not but you can reach out to him.

Ok Mr. Tirekicker...what now?. This guy owns a lot of basses and he says this is the lightest 5'er he has ever played. So yea, get that chequebook out... Hmmmm I keep hearing this saying inside my head but I can't remember what movie it's from.

Yes, definitely join the Face ok Wal Group. A lot of
Wals get offered there prior to going on eBay or Reverb. Then there’s also the For Sale forums here and on Basschat... they can definitely be found, and for less than 6k in many cases.
