So I recently acquired a wal mk3 6 string (im also broke now) and saw some pics that show 4 trim pots on the back of the instrument but mine only has 2 (master vol and the pick mode thing)

Is that normal for a mk3? Year is 1996.

yes that is normal

here's one that i owned once...... i forget what the reasoning behind it was....the two trim is pick attack and master volume

Mk 1s only had pick attack and volume. The bass roll off filters were introduced with the Mk 2 5-strings. Remember, back in the early/mid 80s 5-strings were very rare, not the mass market bass we have today. So bass amps weren’t designed to handle frequencies that low. Trace Elliott was barely a well known brand, though the took off very soon after and started to revolutionise how bass amps were viewed. Hartke came not long after. So mass market speakers were not as well specced as they are now. The filters were included so you could tame the bottom end if your amp or speaker couldn’t cope with them.

In these days of Edens, Vanderklays, Bergantinos, Barefaceds, MarkBass et al the bass roll off filters are pretty much redundant.

Been reading bits and pieces of it for a few weeks now. Great source of wal-knowledge!

Itll take me a while to really feel in tune with the wal electronics, but its much more flexible than I ever expected. The tightness and even-ness of the instrument is incredible and unlike anything Ive played so far.

I havent even had the bass for a week but man I havent really felt like going back to my Bongo 6 at all.

If shipping doesn't include customs, the buyer may be paying as much or more for this bass as they would for a new one. Of course they wouldn't have the 2-year wait...

Apparently the seller knows not what he has... no mention of Mr. Weinrib anywhere on the listing.

Dat 96% feedback rating tho...

Dude, thanks for the heads up, but you guessed it, I don't like red, particularly in a bass!! YUCK! And not only that, it's missing the low B string!

But keep your eyes and ears open and on the hunt - maybe we will get lucky!!! :thumbsup:
