It really is. I’m starting to realize I prefer the MK2 body shape to the MK3. I just really dig it. I’m sure it won’t last long with that price tag.
On the 5ers, I really prefer the balance of the Mk3....feels like nothing. That large headstock on a Mk2 5 feels so heavy way out there on your fretting arm. A set of those new Schaller lightweights is really needed for the balance. It would also bring the weight down to like 10-3/4 on that bass, but the balance is where the difference is.
Yeah that makes sense. In all fairness, I’ve never played a 5 string MK2 so I don’t know. I’m talking strictly looks. I will say that my MK3 5er has incredible balance. So perhaps I would be dissatisfied in comparison but from an aesthetic standpoint, something about the MK2 style calls to me. Then again, aesthetics should be the last thing we worry about hahaha.
I know the feeling. That’s the reason I’ve sold 90% of the basses I’ve owned in the last 15 years, to try more
Honestly, I’ve started to realize I’m just not as comfortable on a 5 as I thought I’d be. Kinda miss my 4 string Wal. Of course I don’t realize this until after purchasing a Wal 5 and a Dingwall 5

That is surprising damn. Although now that I think about it..I think the MK3s just way a lot less all way round because my MK1 4 string was actually heavier than my MK3 5 string is. I don’t remember exact weight but I remember being surprised when I got the MK3 at how light it was.
Yeah mine was 10.8 pounds. It’s safe to say they perfected the craft a bit more with the later model haha. Your old lacewood MK1 is still one of my fav Wals out there.

Considering I've had my 5'er for almost 6 years....I just recorded it for the first time a few days ago. I could have spent time on the recording and added compression (as my levels are all over the place) and "slipped" my recording on parts I was off-time on etc. But I was in a hurry and just eq'd it.
I just used 2 inputs to record. Mic'd 12" cab for dirty signal, and I used a Demeter Preamp for the clean.
Sounds killer man! Nasty tone. I think I like it better than the tone on the real song
JCs tone just crushes Paul’s in every way.
While everyone was sleeping, a black poly Mk2 4 string got posted fs on the facebook page at a killer price.
