I just saw on the Wal website that the build time is now three years! I'm guessing this is due to Covid? I was hoping to place a order this year before another price increase, but I just learned my boss pulled a fast one on us and used the time we were laid off due to Covid to sell her business.
The free spirit in me says screw it order the Wal anyway you have the money to pay for it in savings. The practical says wait until I find another job soon and if I like the working conditions place an order in November before the price increase.

just remember with a build - you don't have to necessarily pay everything upfront. 1st payment is a deposit to get on the queue. 2nd payment is when the neck is going to be processed.....and then you have the length of the build to pay it off. I'm not sure what the dollar amount these days are for the 1st and 2nd payment though.

It's not black - more of a rootbeer finish.....as far as I'm aware it's not a refin.

I've just listed a passive 1980 Pro II Wal bass on the classified pages if anyone is looking for one of these. I gave this one a try but I'm a Jazz bass guy at heart.

Nope, earlier pic just shows shiny reflection of the edge of the case.....

Appears to be original judging by similiar aging of the finish on both neck and body. also the factory shim glued in the bottom of the neck heel doesn't seem altered or painted over if it were to be refinished.

ya i think this is the only Pro headstock that i recall seeing that's not "el naturale". props to whoever commissioned this build back in 1980.
