google says wait time is 4 years right now and they're not accepting new orders right now...thus the silence i'm guessing
Check out Octave basses. They make some great wal tributes. The appear to be quality instruments at a fraction of the price. There is also a Luthier in the UK, Jones basses, who does a multi coil filter / preamp model.
Seems like there are other options these days for a walk style bass that won't break the bank and take near half a decade to get.

I've been on the wait list four years now. If you submit an inquiry via their website it's been my experience that they will get back to you within a few months and add you to the wait list for new orders, but again, it's gonna be awhile.
+1 for Dario at Octave Basses. He's a one man operation and I think does it out of love as much as anything. It's his hobby, not his profession, AFAIK. Anyway, just got mine from him about a month ago. Took about a year but we had some speed bumps. I think 6-9 months is typical. He is most easily reached on Facebook. Note that although he includes an XLR plug for a D.I., it is for show only. Everything else is functional. I am very happy with mine. YMMV.

I spent 4years on Wait list and received an email last fall for a build slot to be finished in Q3/4 of 2025. They started building my neck. Still finalizing the specs. Its a very expensive bass, but I expect it to be my "Forever" bass. Im going all out with this build.
I've gone through 5 new Wal orders since 2015, each time took longer and longer. My current one is finished as of yesterday, and took 4 and half years.
Yes there is a waiting list to get on the build list. Seems he's now getting to the people that got on there in late 2021 and early 2022.
If you want to get in line for new, then send another email and leave a phone message. Don't bother with insta or facebook, there's only two guys there and they're not the kinds that hang out on social media.
If you're not into waiting, then highly suggest you buy used. There are two fretless Mk1's still sitting here on the talkbass classifieds if you dig deep.
Also the Wal bass owners have our page on facebook, and basses get listed there available all the time.

My Wal mk3 was ordered in January 2021 I believe, received it September 2024..
Was most definitely worth the wait, that beefy Wal tone I’d been chasing for 20 years is now right at my finger tips!
