Many of us who are very familiar with the Walter's feel that the match-up of the Walter with the Epifani UL cabs is not a good one. The weakness in high bass and low mid punch in the Walter voicing is magnified by the bit of a low mid hole in the UL cabs. IMO and IME.

That being said, I'm with you. When I got the MB F1, the Walter was out the door.

Yeah, that makes good sense. I do remember the sound being somewhat scooped in the lower mids in a very uncomfortable way - I guess that other cabs might have made my first experience with WW a better one

+1 The Walter Woods reminds me a bit of the Markbass SD800, in that it can sound amazing through some cabs and really pretty thin and nasty through others (by 'thin', I don't mean lacking low end in an absolute sense, but rather lacking low end punch and fullness essential to slotting an EB in a busy mix IME). I've found that the F1 and LMII sound pretty good through everything, I assume due to the more neutral voicing of those amps.

I'm really jazzed about the new TecAmp Puma amps. Those sound REALLY good with the EpiUL's, and the TecAmp Ultra Lightweight 'S' series cabs are quite amazing also...small, loud, punchy and really lightweight (the 212 is 40 pounds).

I must admit that I don't know the SD800, but I have just (like 15 minutes ago) hooked up my new F500 to my UL410 S1 cab, and the first impression was stunning. It really sounds huge and very clear. So far, I am very happy with it! (hm... maybe I should just start a new thread when I get to know the F500 better....?) Anyway...:

I LOVE the MB LMII and F1 through my 410UL (I and II). It's just wonderful IMO and IME.

Yes, start a thread, since the F500 is not available in the US yet. Lot's of use would like to hear about it. I assume it sounds identical to the F1 when set flat, but the extra features and semi-parametric mids are very cool.

I would think that the semi-parametric low mid set a little lower than the fixed F1 setting (which is think is around 400hz) would really punch up the 410UL (maybe set around 250 or so).

The only EQ I use with my 410UL(I) and the F1 is a slight cut in the upper mids (I believe it's centered around 800hz). Really nice sounding!

As for volume needs, I need to fill a room on upright or eletric of no bigger than 500 people. Every room I play has a PA to hook up to too. A lot of cats use bergantino amps, I'm thinking about getting one of those, or maybe augilar.

In that scenario, the WWU with a Berg HT112/EX112 is a very good combination. Two Glockenklang Space Deluxes (a 1x12 with a tweeter) would also do quite well.

Either of those rigs should be able to cover the stage sound quite well, and possibly cover the room (without PA support) in smaller venues, if the rest of the band is not too loud.

Oh, yeah. Another killer, killer combination (possibly my favorite with the WWU) is two older EA VL-208's. The only problem is finding them...

I been using epifani 3x10 ul II with the wwu.. sounds great.
