Double Bass Walter Woods "Ice Cream Sandwich" on e-bay

I thought some here might enjoy seeing the original Walter Woods Mini Amp, the legendary Ice Cream Sandwich from the early 70's, that was recently on e-bay. http://makeashorterlink.com/?G58A25B4D

Incidently, Walter, who has degrees in electrical engineering as well as music, was working in the aerospace industry in SoCal in the late 60's, and this is his first amp that got it all started.

I haven't seen one of these recently. Jerry Cherry (a local bass repair man, player, and good friend) had this amplifier. I have no idea how many of these were produced Walter built, but I think he had redesigned the amplifier by 1972 or so. The MI-100-8 was on the back of the Rufus Reid Bass Book and Valda Hammick's book.
Just for the record this is not a 100 watt amplifier. As I recall it only produced 50 watts into 8 ohms. The top and bottom are not aluminum. They are tolex covered press board.

Having played this amplifier, although it's a very unique piece,
it really was a prototype. Owning it as a collectible piece would
be interesting, but Walter really improved that design when
he built the MI-100-8 with two channels, and all the other design
changes that he used to upgrade the amplifier. Those amplifiers are
the real testament to Walter's genius, since so many of them were used
by professional players all over the world. IMHO there probably won't ever
be a "Walter Woods" amplifier museum, but you never know.
