In the scheme of things, you are right. I moved up to USA fenders and German Warwick's, it wasn't like I had a reason to miss it.

It was realizing I needed a 2nd p bass, and was agonizing over which $100 range bass to get, because I am not in the position of having money like I used to. I initially got an import peavey milestone that was cheap at GC, and then shortly after the foundation fell into my hands for even less. It did not help that there was a fury at that same guitar center for $139, a month before I realized I wanted one again. Now I have 2 and the milestone is on the block.

USA Peaveys are an addiction, and not Much more than SX basses (sometimes less). I would rather have a bunch of USA peaveys than a bunch of SX, personally.

As much trash as I talked on peavey, carvin and crate amps in my youth, peavey and carvin actually make (yes make/made) some pretty decent guitars and basses.

Peavey prices are on the rise, grab em if you can, and avoid the $300 price gougers. A good peavey cost $200-300 new in the early 90s, a little less than MIM fender at the time.

Ah, thats understandable. Never played one of those Peaveys but you seem to be caught up that its US made and that seems to really sway your decision. I couldn't care less where a bass is made. I have had instruments from Japan, Mexico and Indonesia that felt and played better than US made instruments...

Do a search on your local Craigslist as well as other cities CL within driving distance , for Peavey Foundation. I prefer the models with super ferrite pickups but the later model pups are fine as well.

Depends on the style of music you play. Specifically, if you play with a pick close to the bridge, it may be an issue. Look at how close the bridge pickup is to the bridge on the Foundation, terrible design. Check the Rondo site for B stock deals if you want an SX even cheaper than they already are. I picked up a B stock 30" scale SX Ursa 1 for $70! Had a tiny dent in the back I couldn't care less about. Just dropped a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound in it and it sounds even better now. So for $145 I have a bass that sounds just as good as any Ive played that cost up to 8-10 times what I payed. I also picked a B stock 30" scale Ursa 2 (the Jazz version) for only $79! You can't beat SX for best deal in the bass world IMO.

Don't forget the ones made in the 80s either! And then again there are the ones from 1978-79 as well. But only rarely are they as inexpensive.
