Double Bass warbling octave A

Pardon my newbieness, I looked around for this problem in the forums, but don't quite know what to call it.

I just had my bass set-up by a local luthier, and it plays a whole lot better than before (mostly just lower action). I just found a problem, and I can't say for sure if it is because of the set-up or if it was there before. When i finger the octave A on the A string, and play with bow, i get a warbling sound.

I can't find this on any other note on the entire bass, so it is not a huge problem, but at the same time, I shouldn't have to dance around notes on my bass to avoid a bad sound.

Sorry. Soon after posting, I found out about wolf-tones. Quite a hard thing to research until you know the name though. Is a wolf-tone eliminator the only solution or are there any other options?

I had this exact problem, and a WTE cleared it up. The only problem is, it took some effort to find a favorable placement that didn't wreak havoc on my amplified tone.

You can try different strings, a lighter or heavier tailpiece or a wire (Marvin) tailpiece. If nothing else, you may change the wolf note to an Ab or Bb which I think is better than A...

I had that same wolf tone on my upright and it just eventually went away. I'm not sure why, I suppose the seasonal changes moved it somewhere else.
