I finally have my Warmoth creation in my hands. I used 3 basses for inspiration:
Jazz: Body shape and Nut Width
Ric: Maple body, Jumbo Frets, Ric style knobs
Tele: Neck, Pickup (SD-QP), satin black paint
I think the jazz body is the sexiest bass/guitar shape ever made. I love the tone of maple from the Rics.
a little more info:
-Neck is Birdseye Maple
-Schaller Tuners
-Body is Maple (~7lbs)
-Bridge is thru body (Fender Am. Std)
-Pickup is Seymour Duncan SCPB-3 - the tonal qualities of this pup match up really well with maple. Deep & Clear as bell.
i think if i could do anything different, it would be a top route with a pickguard and control plate for more of a jazz look. but the way it is makes it a bit more unique.
i chose satin black because i plan on beating the crap out of this thing for a long time - and satin shows the scars nicely.
