Quick question about the Hipshot style A bridge on the Gecko 6. I’ve built two 5 strings with the Hipshot kickass bridge and ended up shimming the necks to get the action correct. I like exceptionally low action and was curious if anyone could chime in on where their action sits with the style A for a gecko 6.
Wow, I don't think I've ever seen a bass (or guitar) that used Mahogany as a decorative top laminate; it almost always seems to get used as an almost-pedestrian body wood beneath a more exotic cap. But that top is gorgeous!
can someone provide me with a ballpark measurement from last fret to end of neck on the bridge side, gecko 5 medium is what I'm after. I have a neck on order and am laying out a body for it.

The bridge end of the neck has a slope, the longest point of that slope to the bridge side of the last fret is 2 5/16
can someone please forward the depth of the neck extension that fits in the body's neck joint?
and what is the distance between the 24th fret and the end of the neck joint on the bass and treble side? here's a pic of a measurement of a neck from the 24th fret to the end of the neck joint on the treble side:

I think the second measurement you asked for is in my previous comment. The neck extension has a long side and a short side, my measurement is from the long one. I'll measure the depth and short side when I'm home this afternoon.
thanks for your help! the long side (2 5/16") might need to be 'shaved' about a .25 inch to fit the neck pocket:
the 'empty' triangle will be filled with a random tonewood and covered with a thin, black laminate.
just need to confirm what the depth is of the portion of the neck that joins with the neck joint.

I'll see if I can measure it without taking the neck off. I'm a nice guy but there's a limit

I’m pondering a Gecko 6 build and would like to know (those of you that had a body routed for a soapbar in the sweet spot) if a bridge or neck pup was preferable. I imagine there’s some variation in how manufacturers coil their pups but curious to hear experiences.
I’ve already purchased a neck that I intended to mod for another bass but can’t bring myself to cut on it. Wenge w/ebony fretboard is too sacred. And I have most other parts from previous mods to throw this together affordably. Thanks all!

Hi Chris, I had my Gecko fretless 6 routed for Bartolini-sized soapbars in both bridge and sweet spot positions. My favorite setting on my Gecko panned to slightly favor the bridge pickup. The bridge pickup gives some pretty good mid-rangy growl. While the sweet spot pickup provides a more full, fatter sound. This is a custom option not listed on their website. They charged me an extra $30 for the custom route.
Haha, very nice n versatile. I was trying to do something different with this one. ESP since all my Basses have pup configurations in the bridge area because I totally favor that sound.
So question to you, ...would u be content with a pup in just the bridge position? Do you play with that bridge pup solo’d?
I do play with bridge pickup soloed for the burpy Jaco sound. I like mixing-in the sweet spot pickup for most applications to provide a little more meat to my sound. The body of the bass is bubinga, which tends to really bring-out the mids. Adding the sweet spot pickup tends to tame those mids some.
