Warmoth Gecko owner's club

IIRC, the spacing on my spalt Gecko is .669 which is almost 17mm. I don't know that I would go much wider than that.

Thanks, Eric. I could deal with that.

Some beautiful Geckos you have! What kind of bridges are those? EDIT: I see they are .669" Hipshots... Very nice. Glad to see those will work.

I might have to build one now...

Maybe a Mahogany body, Walnut top, wenge neck, ebony board... Hmm.

Wyliee,

If I may ask how you liked the narrow 5, noting it's now sold... Seems strange your a 6 guy but had a narrow neck version of the 5?

For my needs I'm wanting to hear how folks like the playability of the narrow... I have stubby hands (thanks dad) and my med neck is just not all that comfortable any more. Also I'm way out of practice these days, not playing in a band any longer.

Think of the 6 as a narrow 5 with one more string added on. By going slightly wider with the bridge on my 6's, I've kept the string spacing close to the same between the basses. That's worked best for me.

I prefer the narrow 5 over the medium and wide. That's a matter of personal preference though. IMO, proper technique is important with any extended range bass.

SGC Sidewinders and Nordstrand 2-band pre.

This one is mine now! At least its staying in the TB family! :)

What do you guys do for a hard case? The angled headstock comes in contact with the bottom of both of my hard cases.

Zombie thread back to life! :)

Let's start a new club. And why not? I think they're great basses. If you own a Warmoth Gecko bass (or have owned one in the past) you're welcome to join and share pictures.

Here's an outdated picture of my collection of Geckos:

Man I don't know how some of you guys afford so many basses. I'd be happy to have two.

Welcome to the club!

I've had good luck with Warmoth's custom TKL case. It fits the Gecko body perfectly, and has enough space for the angled headstock.

hmm...not sure if i should be excited to have a number, or freaked out that its 13!

I'm really digging this neck profile. I wasn't sure how i was going to feel about the asymetrical bit, but man, its comfy! lowfreqgeek did a great job on shaping this body! Surprisingly this thing is lighter than my blacktop jazz with a warmoth goncalo alves/pao ferro neck!

I generally prefer the plastic cases to the tolex ones, so based on that is there any spec or feature to look for that would indicate it would fit? or is it pretty much just goint to be try and see?

Upcoming member to your highly esteemed society here. I need some help upfront, though. Are there any Gecko 6 with Hipshot A (16.5mm spacing) owners who can help me determine the string spacing, center-to-center, over the pickups. My Gecko will have custom pickup placement, but these measurements will be very helpful to me. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have 2 questions for the Gecko family. I have a Gecko Wide 5 and I'm using an ABM bridge. It's the one that looks like the Hipshot A. I want to go with the Kahler 7450 and Warmoth informed me that if I shipped my bass to them along with the bridge (because Kahler has changed it at least 3 times) they would charge me $45 to do the rout.
Two questions, will the Kahler 7450 do 19mm? Would the Kahler 2450 be a better option?

Here is mine prior to carrying it to Larry Smoak at Wooden Wizard for final assembly! Picking it up July 16th and cannot wait! Swamp Ash Body, Wenge neck/ebony fretboard, SGD ND3 Pickups from David at SGD Lutherie, Takeuchi string thru bridge! Can I get me a number PLEASE??:hyper:
