Warmoth j-5 with 19 mm spacing

I asked them about that a year or so ago.
The answer was that it might just work, but would be a tight fit, and the strings might pull off the neck. If you work it out that's how it seems to me also.
They might have changed things since then, I wouldn't know, so it is worth checking. Why everyone has to have tighter spacing on a 5 or 6 I don't know. There are so many basses that I would love to have apart from the spacing being too tight.
Good luck

This one has 19mm spacing but I ordered with the wide neck back in 2000.

thanks to everybody, I will try to put a bridge with 19 mm string spacing, in the worse one of the hypotheses i will put a bridge with 18 string spacing.
For bass4worship, i know the wide option of the gecko bass but i don't like the shape of body and the shape of the headstock

the novelties are accepted well

Actually, I do have the same question. I've written an e-mail to Warmoth, but still no response.

According to their info on Deluxe 5 necks, bodies and suggested TK5 bridges, Deluxe 5 Bass is designed for 17.5 mm (.669") string spacing at the bridge.

Anyhow, I'm personally confused in the following: fixed 17.5 mm (.669") on the one hand, according to specs,

but on the other hand,
- first, they suggest to select Leo Quann Badass Bass V bridge among the others (TK5, Hipshot A)
- second, they say that Deluxe 5 necks fits MIA Fender Deluxe V basses (that were before 2010, I guess).

In a word it's a 19 mm (.750") string spacing at the bridge.

Looks like both statements contradict each other.

Could anyone clarify this?

I had the same query a few months ago and managed to get in a dialogue with them.
The 19mm spacing won’t work with our bodies and necks, the outer strings would be on the very edge of the fretboard.
Then i asked.
I thought 19MM string spacing would work on the Deluxe series considering my USA Jazz deluxe V (Which the warmoth deluxe V necks are the same size and direct replacements of the Fender Jazz deluxes) has 19MM string spaced bridge?
Them.
Which year deluxe 5, Fender has done at least 6 iterations, ours is an early ’00 model, and not compatible with the current Fender deluxe 5’s, the one we do is more similar to a music man. Good luck, it might be something we do in the future, but I’d say at least a couple years out as our R&D folks are pretty booked.

My Fender Deluxe 5 is a 2002 with 19mm string spacing.

So i am not sure, i didnt think the Deluxe 5 jazz string spacing had changed from 19MM in any of Fenders interations. I know their Gecko 5 strings support 19MM string spacing.

I didnt order anything because i couldnt be sure what i would get.

I have built several 5-string Warmoths with 19 mm string spacing without any problems. I can understand that they would not like to take any responsibility for that but as far as my experience allows to say it I think you can easily try a 19mm bridge. Well, a good choice is an adjustable bridge like Schaller or others which gives you more choices.

I thought the Schaller 3d bridge only allowed up to 17.5MM max.

Any ideas of adjustable bridges with 18-19MM string spacing?

... I can understand that they would not like to take any responsibility for that...

Then why they do suggest an option to choose a Badass V bridge, that is 19 mm by definition.

without any problems, you say... hmm, do you have any pics of them, just to see how does it look like?

As someone already said their suggestions include several contradictions. So you have to discover what works and what doesn't.

I have sold all my 5-string Warmoths. But I think I can find some pics though. Give me some time. :)

I had a Warmoth P5 Deluxe with a Hipshot 19mm bridge. I adjusted the spacing in to about 18.5mm, but it was almost indistinguishable from the full 19mm. Never had any issues at all with the strings pulling off the board, but that's also partly due to technique.

If you bend a lot and pull on the G-string, that might be a problem. I don't.

anyway, from your pics, strings G and B seems to be very close to the edges, as well as on that Deluxe 5P from lowfreqgeek

As I said it already, the G-string felt much better than MM5. It has never been a problem. This is actually the first time I even thought about that issue. But if you want to be absolutely sure get the bridge that let you choose between 18-19 mm.
