Warmoth Jazz Project Complete

Finally done my Warmoth Jazz Bass. They did amazing work on this body, I am very pleased.

Specs:

Sunburst finish
Fender Precision reissue neck
Badass II bridge
Audere JZ3 Preamp
Bartolini Pickups

This thing is pretty versatile in terms of tone. Jazzy if it wants to be, aggressive if it wants to be. Boosting the treble slightly higher than usual gives me a sound that I can only compare to that of Stuart Zender's tone on "Too Young to Die" by Jamiroquai. These photos make it appear more yellow in the middle, but its actually more brownish.

its the 9j1 set with the deep bridge bright neck. i was discouraged at first by the bright/deep description but they both sound pretty deep and bright, like a thick jazz bass. great tone.

yea, well my first bass was a squire pbass and my second was a stingray, so ive always been used to the thicker width. very comfortable for me.

it wasnt cheap. but this is probably the best jazz bass ive ever played (considering its setup with a precision neck and low action, wood, pickups to my liking)

it is an ash body. i like heavy basses, donno y, but light basses just feel like toys to me. its around 12 pounds.

Wow. Well, it's gorgeous. I really hope you love it to death. But way to heavy for me-I'm a 9lb. max kind of guy. But hey, very, very nice bass. I'm sure it sounds killer.

Yeah, that's too heavy for me too. I've been thinking of putting together a Warmoth bass but it would have to be on the light side.

Hi,

Which pickguard are you use and where did you get?? As the layout is late 70's style and need drilling holes for pickup cover and thrumprest....

its a wd pickguard. i ordered it from their website, and yes it is a 70's pattern, and all the screw holes you see came already drilled. its 20$ cheaper than a fender one. for something that doesn't add to the playability or sound of the bass, i don't think i'd dish out more money for the fender name, when its basically the same product.

haha, believe me, i was surprised too. this is a swamp ash body, i thought it was going to be light, hell this thing is heavier than my stingray. im sure this can be attributed a bit to the thicker precision neck and its heavy 70's style tuners, the badass bridge, and believe it or not, the preamp, it was pretty heavy for a little thing. i am happy with the bass though, yes it does sound killer, but not in the way you may expect. its very smooth, and i mean smooth. great jazzy tone (i'm using it mostly for jazz). with the high z mode on the audere set, it is reminiscent of the bass tone on "don't give hate a chance" by jamiroquai, a good bit of bite.
