I finally finished my burl mooncaster.
Yeah, the first Warmoth neck i purchased was kinda fat, bassball bat like, So I sanded it down a bit to my liking, it felt a lil better,but it was still pretty chunky (Be careful not to sand too much it'll effect it's tone!) however, on my next order/purchase. I ordered one with the "slim taper" profile option, and that Is awesome/perfect, more C than D and "jazz like", totally worth it! I also found their necks to be quite heavy,with their std. steel rods (which i believed caused head/neck dive & i didn't feel like shelliing 60 more for the graphite rods), But changing to hipshot ultralite tuners Fixed that problem!!
I highly recommend their custom necks, especially with their Slim taper profile option(super sweet)!!
Also, just a few more words(sorry lp).they'll need a little fret finishing work, but nothing too serious. i did it on my own. just a little filing to round over the fret edges (lil sharp fret ends nothing more).... i did it my self to my liking. now they're perfect. yeah, it's a little annoying to pay good $$ for a custom neck, and have to finish it yourself or just pay a tech to do it. its not a big deal. I love my Warmoth Necks! totally worth the extra effort! good luck.

One question: Is there solid block from the bridge all the way to the butt end?
I was thinking about one of these, but I tend to play med gauge flats, so string through doesn’t work well. However, I think Hipshot makes a tailpiece that would fit behind the bridge if the top has solid wood underneath.
Yes, it's a semi-hollow body. There is solid wood from the neck heel to the butt. I'm actually using flats on these, LaBella Mustang flats to be specific. They are made for string thru. (30" scale, by the way.)
Edit: I actually was able to get one set of LaBella 760FS-M-TB, also meant for thru body. Apparently difficult to get. That's what's on the burl, but I'm thinking I'm going back to the Mustang strings.

Here is my Warmoth Jazzmaster. I painted the headstock with Guitar ReRanch products. Bartolini pups and an Audere preamp. Pickguard has a small gap with the control plate but it doesn’t bother me too much. The body was a Screamin’ Deal that I couldn't pass up! I have been GASsing for a jaguar but none of the stock models out there caught my eye.

Looking through this thread, I see a good number of basses with Fender logos on them.
I put the Warmoth logo on mine. It may not mean much to people, but I like that I have an off-brand bass that I (somewhat) built myself. Guess that's just me.

Yes when you place an order for a build to your specs there is a notes section you have to fill out with what you want. this case painted headstock. Keep in mind they suggest to do it with a body you order at the same time to match the paint best as possible.
Plus there will be an up charge, mine was an extra $75 dollars I think, cant remember the exact amount.
Yeah I'm the same way. I am currently waiting for mine to be shipped out, I plan on getting a custom decal made for my build.
So on this thread I feel like the boy who cried wolf. I’ve talked about, planned, or started 3-4 different Warmoth projects that for one reason or another have never made it to fruition.
I’m back at it again. Though, I won’t get into details until things are closer. But I have placed orders for all the various parts to actually make this one. Hopefully I’ll follow through.

I just know what it's like to buy necks and bodies and pickups and hardware, and never quite getting around to completing something because there's some detail that isn't quite right. I'm actually going to have a completely new Warmoth project completed and finished in the not-too-distant future, but part of the reason is I'll be outsourcing key parts of the build.
Haha. No worries man. Yeah I have my body ordered and the neck should be here in a couple days. So in 6 weeks once the body is done and delivered I’ll just need assembly. Good luck to us both man.
The hard part of a Warmoth build is the wait!!! Especially since I had to do a full custom. So it still won't ship for another 4-6 weeks and the wait is killing me!!
I do have all the other components for the build. I am using EMG GZR's, got them. I picked up a NOS Fender American Std Maple Jazz Neck, and all the hardware. I have the bridge on the way. So all I'll need is the body. It's gonna be freaking sweet!
