My first warmoth build- Korina body-Ebony fretboard-Rosewood neck. Heavy but I still love it.

Watco danish oil finish-wet sanded 600grit. Surface is completely sealed and babys butt smooth, even the endgrain. Neck is raw rosewood and ebony-treated with bore oil. Pocket was perfect fit. Frets are gold. Pots are CTS 250k linear VV and 500k audio T with a .051 "black cat" cap. Knobs are solid brass Gretch -neck plate is brass also. Tuners are Gotoh ultralights vintage style reverse. Dimarzio Model Js wired in series. All cavities are painted with conductive paint. Dead silent except when I need her to sing Only thing I am not happy with is the hipshot brass bridge-Babicz is on the way. As I joked in the hardware and setup forum- told my wife to bury me with this one.

This is a super long shot, but does anyone know where this Warmoth is? I built it about 5 years ago and sold it just a few months after completion and I miss it dearly. I sold it on eBay to a fellow in TX.

I bought this Warmoth used for $550. It's the best sounding and easiest playing bass I've ever played. Seeing all these pictures of other Warmoth basses makes me think I need another one. I love the narrow neck and ebony fingerboard of the one I have. I tend to play with the bridge pickup wide open, a little neck pickup, and almost no tone control. Playing on the bridge pickup gives a great articulated sound. I think the swamp ash body helps the tone too.

I just picked this up recently from a member here on TB, had it shipped over to Australia with out playing it and Im really happy with how great it feels and plays. Im still not sold on the EMG pickup system installed, but changing them out for something else won't be too hard!

I was wondering if anyone might know the history of this bass at all? The owner I bought it from had recently purchased it off eBay but Im not sure if he was the original owner etc.

Playing this bass has got me thinking of what else I could put together, and I think I might be spending more money fairly soon!!

I'll join. I got my Gecko 5 string back Monday, 5 years after selling it on Ebay.
Mahogany body(raw, no finish what so ever).
I took the strings off to clean the fingerboard and body.
First thing I will do is change pickups. Thats the thing I did not like about the bass.
I am going to try some Lakland/Hanson ChiSonics in soapbar casings. I want to try it passive first.

Just missed it. I sold it to buy a Laland 55-01.
I went through a bunch of Laklands.
Too embarassing to say a number.

I had my Gecko longer then any other bass.
Played countless gigs with it.
I contacted the guy that bought it 2 years ago, telling him if he was ever interested in selling it, I would be interested in buying it back. I never heard from him.
Out of nowhere, he replied in mid September.
I paid a little more then I wanted, but I am thrilled to have it back.
New pickups going in this week

I know back in the day I had a Warwick Corvette that did not have a finish on it.
It was bare bubinga

Raw wood bodies don't really warp - at least not that's noticeable, like a raw neck that isn't rigid enough (i.e. exotic wood) to ride out most weather effects.

Actually, the back of the neck ia raw also.
