Warmoth Releases Mooncaster Short Scale Bass!

They must be as the bisonics were from the starfire a hollow body and darkstars were a recreation.A mounting problem, maybe? TV Jones' pickups are made to be hung over a hollow/semi-hollow body by the mounting rings - a la Gretsch basses/guitars. Is that an option for DarkStars? Just askin'... Otherwise, for me personally, my only complaint about a Mooncaster would be the scale. I have several short scale hollow/ semi-hollow body basses, and don't really have room in my herd for another one. However... now that I think about it, I don't have any medium scale basses at all...
The medium scale is what I found the most interesting. That seems to be the feature that isn't out there already for most semihollow bodies.
But yeah, routing options for a Darkstar, BiSonic, TBird and Thunderbucker pup would be really cool.
Or... you could just go score a Starfire and be done with it for zero hassles and about $400 less all in. You wouldn't get medium scale. But that's not a dealbreaker for me at least.
But whatever. That looks and sounds like a pretty cool bass to assemble.

"QUALIFIED" yes - qualified because I cannot stand the sharp edge of body binding.
IMO: This really needs the big 'half-inch radius' body edge of a Rickenbacker 360 (or 4005) and they could sell a boatload.

Is there a reason you couldn't order this body without a bridge route and then make the bass with a 34" neck and position the bridge yourself appropriately?
Duuuuuude... I wasn't sure until I watched the video. Those pickups are no joke. I'm in love.
Plus, I can do this in 32" scale and make it with any board I want, or even fretless? Another smart move is the string-through. I'm guessing that with a 32" string-through bridge, some full-scale strings will be usable on that bass.

lol... here's an idea - while you are at it, order a Warmoth 32 neck (fretless) and fret it as a longscale yourself...

Their parts cost too much to be doing additional woodworking and such IMO.

It isn't. It would not be difficult to either route out the neck pocket or modify the heel of a 34" scale bolt on neck (if you are comfortable with doing so).
I thought the whole idea of Warmoth was to avoid having to do the pesky chores like routing, finishing, fretwork, carving wood... etc - just bolt it together and string it up!
Warmoth offers instruments that are basically ready to assemble but you can also get them "in process" (unfinished, no pickup routes, etc ...) as well.
