Warmoth Slim Taper Neck & Neck Woods

Howdy,

Just an inquiry about Warmoth slim taper necks. As some of you know, i am looking for a JB neck that has a flatter profile (at the back of the neck). Don't really like the modern C shape.

Question: does the slim taper effect the tone in any way?

What sort of wood should i be looking for? I was going to select a maple neck, with rosewood fretboard. Is there any other wood i should be considering?

Also interested in neck finish. Is it worth paying extra for a nitro satin finish? Or, should i get it unfinished and add my own Tru-Oil? Is there some sort of other finish i could add?

Also, graphite vs. Steel rods. Is the weight difference really worth the price difference?

Thanks in advance :)

Completely depends on the tone you're after. Take a look at their wood descriptions and go play some basses with different combinations.

I've played a Warmoth neck with the steel rods and it was noticeable more neck heavy and less comfortable to play than my bass with graphite rods. May have not been the only factor though
