WARNING PF 50t does NOT fit inside all Portaflex cabs!!!

Well technically adding a new amp to any portaflex cab is upgrading the rig even if it does not flip over. Getting really specific you were not updating your current rig. You bought an old cab to go with your new pf-50t. Better to go with specifics then analyze and assume.

From a customer service standpoint, I disagree that the issue isn't on Ampeg, Slpbass81. If you do a search of the pf50t on google, what pops up in the first 3 pages doesn't show a thing about the backward compatibility issue.
Additionally, Ampeg touted backwards compatibility as a feature of the product in their advertising, even specifying the model cab that the OP decided to purchase. That created an expectation of compatibility on the part of the OP, and certainly on the part of other consumers as well, or it wouldn't be an issue.

Ampeg doesn't mention the issue in their advertising or on their website...hell it wouldn't have cost Ampeg anything to devote a sentence or two in the owners manual .pdf on their website to mention that there could be issues, but they didn't acknowledge it at all. In fact, they say on page 4 that it was specifically designed "...match perfectly with existing cabinets". I think the OP has a reason to be miffed. Those who are saying that Ampeg should be let off the hook because models change, no crystal ball, etc. aren't really acknowledging the expectation of compatibility that Ampeg created. That is an oversight that they should definitely address. It's good customer service to create realistic expectations.

When the new amps were first announced I asked specifically about this and was told about the modification early in production. But, I only asked because I already owned an early version of the PF-210 and saw the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] and didn't think the amp would fit with that bar in place.

I'd think if you already had a cab and looked at it for a minute or so it should be pretty apparent, but I agree that it would also be very easy for ampeg to add a disclaimer statement "serial numbers/cabs dating to before MMDDYY (or DDMMYY if you prefer) may require modification" would be a simple way to address the problem. Assuming everyone read the website/manual to see that statement.

it doesn't sound like it's a difficult fix, a few minutes with a saw and you're done. However, I think that Ampeg really should have had a disclaimer about the small percentage of cabs that can't fit the head stock. It's not a terrible oversight, seeing as it's not a difficult fix and applies to such a small portion of the cabinets - but it's an oversight nonetheless.

It's honestly the main reason that I'm still looking at these cabinets. You could store your head pretty easily with the cab, and if you have some other stuff that you want to store, you could just fit your "gig backup stuff" bag into the cabinet for easy transit.

Thanks for the heads up. I have a very early PF115E and a later one. Never paid much attention to differences, but will see if either, both, or neither of mine is compatible.

Ampeg made claims that misled you, would have misled me.

I'd pull that brace and try to use it without or relocate it if looks like needed.
