I just received a call from my local Long and McQuade store regarding the Planet Waves Humidipack. Apparently, there has been a factory recall on the Humidipacks due some of the gel packs leaking. While my own Humidipack has not leaked (yet - or if ever), I have been told that I am able to return the product for a full refund. It might be wise to check with your local music store and inquire in depth about the particular situation, while also making sure that YOUR Humidpack hasn't leaked.
This is a bummer for me as I have owned my Humidipack for close to 4 months and it has worked quite well for me. Hopefully Planet Waves will find a solution to this problem, and come out with something more improved.
Humidipak Advisory
We have discovered that we have a potential defect as it relates to the film lining of the Humidipak packettes. Our testing has discovered that there is a possible risk that minor spotting of the Humidipak solution may become visible on the packette over time. This possible defect in the film lining is applicable to all Planet Waves Humidipak 2-way Humidity Control System products for fretted and bowed instruments.
Will the solution damage my instrument's finish?
Wood finished with lacquer or urethane is protected. Simply wipe the solution off of the wood with a dry cloth and clean spot with guitar polish to remove any residue. If your instrument has a spirit or oil-based finish (such as violin family), our tests we have found that the gel material inside the packette can leave marks on the finish. However, any such marks can be touched up by a qualified repair person.
Wow in a way, this is the most shocking photo of all!It even damaged the original Martin strap I got with the bass over 30 years ago.

Ouch. You should contact Planet Waves and see what THEY can do before you send it to Martin. If their product was faulty, they should foot the bill.

I think I would cry for hours if this happened to me.

DUDES!
A guy from Planet Waves called me first thing this morning and they are going to resolve this with Martin's participation!!!![]()
