And I remember that books I was given as a kid, included "golliwogs" and other offensive stereotypes - in fact children's books are often the worst, when it comes to ingraining stereotypes - as people don't look at them critically in the same way they would at a book aimed at adults.
 
It was just a thow-away joke - so we were talking about inappropriate images for children and it struck me as ironic that we try to keep them away from images of nakedness, but are happy for them to grow up with archaic racial stereotypes...

I think this is a serious point though - as I said - I can remember kindergarten books which were horrendously racist !

I'm not complaining - just pointing out an interesting cultural "dissonance"...?
