Warrior Club Part 2

Thats a flippin amazing bass, my personal favourite warrior shape and pickup config. Im choosing between two 5's atm one with mm/j bartolini p/ups and one with dual custom emg p/ups. Any advice on which p/ups are better? Also so very true there are no ugly warrior basses.

I like my setup, but I do miss the throatiness of a neck J pickup.

My older MTD Saratoga helps fill the bill in that area, though.

Kinda quiet in here...:hmm:

Anyway here is a Dran Michael 6 I picked up on a trip to the US a while ago.

Cocobolo top and headstock
Mahogany/Flamed maple/Purpleheart neck
Purpleheart board
XXM56C Barts, Cocobolo covers/ Bart NTMB 3 band pre

I added Gotoh 707 tuners and replaced wooden knobs with some metal Sadowskys, and really want to switch out the wood covered pickups for plain black plastic Barts.

Plays like a dream though and sounds amazing.

Nice bass . . . and nice inlay in the floor!!!

Oh, and FWIW, I love the pickup covers that are on that thing!

Man, that's a seriously sweet bass.

Yeah, this thread blows hot and cold. I think it's simply because JD doesn't sell a ton of basses every year, so not much buzz-drive. In my case, I still have the old "Nitti" model I've had for years now and its still all the Warrior I'll ever need. It plays and sounds amazing. In fact, it's been kinda' sleeping recently (long story) and I've been itchin' to get it out and gig it some more. Maybe this weekend. :)

I did not realize that Vic...I had one of the early Nitti 5 strings and it had the spoke wheel adjustment. Interesting. IIRC, the gutars have always had the spoke wheel. I still have one of the early guitars and it has the spoke wheel. I think it is a 2000 or even a 1999.
Well, I don't think it's that old, but I could be wrong, so maybe it's not just an age thing. Maybe there was some other reason. Sometimes JD just does stuff. It's really bizarre too, because it's a 1/8" allen key, which is a strange size for truss rod. Only one I've ever seen. The only one stranger is the Pedulla, which is a square drive and reverse threaded. Kinda' messed with my head on that one. :)

No big deal, but I of course have the spoke wheels on my Sadowsky basses, and even installed a spoke wheel on my Fender Geddy.

JD doing bizarre stuff? Really? I've never heard such a thing. ;)

Yes, the Pedulla truss rod is the most "strange" I have seen. And, if the nut gets stripped..it cannot be replaced. I have high respect for Mike as a builder but really scratch my head on the truss rod thing.

NT's have the truss rod wheel. BO's have a standard Allen wrench adjustment.
