How does it sound ? I'm intrigued by the pickup locations , I really like neck the pups' configuration looks very appealing....
Still don't have my number.
I bought it from a friend of my former guitar player. They both new J. Dran (Warrior's Owner) when he owned The Sound Post in Chattanooga, TN. The original list on the guitar was $1399.99, and I think he paid right at $1000.00 for it.

My signature 4 has the same configuration, and I tell everyone that I feel like it is the best configuration that I have heard in a bass. I often refer to it as a reverse Lakland position. It makes more sense to me than the Lakland for a couple of reasons. For example, when it comes to a J pickup, how often does anyone solo, or favor the neck pickup (Lakland)? Now, how many times do you solo, or favor the bridge pickup (Warrior)? With the MM pickup where it is, you can really get a nice P sound out of these things if you want as well.
As for the sound, the links in my signature were done with the Warrior. In each case, the pickup balance was about 47% MM, 53% J (so, just barely favoring the J), and the EQ was Bass = flat, Treble = flat, Mid = boosted about 5% to 10% (so, just barely) with the mid switch in the 500Hz position. The variation in tone that you hear is from adjusting my right hand position. These recordings were done straight into the board with no preamp or EQ. We tried several different pre's and the engineer just finally said "anything we run it through just detracts from the sound of that bass!"
I think the pickup placement is a great innovation...they certainly sound great!
I expect you will see other manufacturers go to that configuration, at least as an option.

You guys, how do you like the fit and finish on your Warriors? I had heard some horror stories about them being shoddily made, but the one I played was nice, and I know great bassists like the guy for Fred Hammond plays one to great effect.

I had heard the stories as well. When I saw mine in the shop, I tried for a couple of weeks not to like it because of the stories I had heard, but the bottom line is that it is in the top 5 basses I have ever played. I've played everything. I kept coming back to it, and finally had to get it. I get so many compliments on the tone alone, you wouldn't believe it. The fit and finish is fantastic. There are a lot of little details that are great. The spokewheel trussrod adjustment at the heel is brilliant. I don't have to take off a cover, and I can make minor adjustments with just about anything that will fit in there. The Neutrik locking jack is great, the recessed strap locks. The only issue I have with mine, is that where the E string goes through the end of the body, there is no metal ferrule in there, and it is sometimes difficult to get the string out because it has buried itself in the wood. Of course you can't see it, but that is honestly the only thing I can think of. People are always surprised by how nice the carved curves of the bass are. And it is so thin (front to back) at the 22nd through 24th fret, where other basses have the body starting to get bigger there. This one is carved out that far back. As seen below:

I'm glad to know it is well put together because they are truly great looking basses. I think not putting a metal ferrule on for a through body hole was a significant design gaffe, but hopefully they will correct that because the rest of the design is smokin!

Yeah, I've got it pretty good when that is the only thing I can think of that bothers me. I'm going to search the internet for a ferrule now!!!
Thanks....the black/maple needs a set-up and new strings on it. I have done a partial set-up just to get to play it a bit. I am going ot put some black beauties on it and see what happens!
