Warriors are indeed fine instruments! Mine is a 2000 Signature 6 String. I bought it used out of Seattle for 2600.00
It's my principal instrument for Prog rock ala Dream Theater or Symphony X. It has the Flat "D" neck which makes it a piece of cake to play. Pics soon.

You guys, how do you like the fit and finish on your Warriors? I had heard some horror stories about them being shoddily made, but the one I played was nice, and I know great bassists like the guy for Fred Hammond plays one to great effect.:)

I love the fit and finish of mine. ('99 Studio Plus 5) It has a walnut body with an ebony top, Wenge/purpleheart neck with a purpleheart board. It was originally owned by Andrew Gouche according to JD at the factory. I got to email Andrew with pics and confirm it. He had loaned it to a friend who pawned it for some reason and he never knew what happened to it. I bought it on Ebay in 2002 for $1,400 and the guy I bought it from picked it up in an LA pawn shop a few months before. It was in desperate need of a setup, but I only live a few miles from the Warrior factory so I took it in and purchased "Warrior Care" and they cleaned her up like new. They even recrowned the frets and she playes like butter.
Mine has dual truss rods which they have gotten away from now. I like them because it allows for a much thinner neck front to back. I've played many Warriors, but not a single one like mine. For a few years there they were hit and miss.

She's there in the middle. I sold the Soldier 4 string last year.

Question for anyone who knows... on the whole Christian/"anointed" thing...

Does anyone know if they do anything special to "anoint" these instruments, or is that just a marketing buzzword they use because they are a Christian run business?

Anointing (according to Wikipedia)

To anoint is to pour or smear with perfumed oil, milk, water, melted butter or other substances, a process employed ritually by many religions and races. It also means to be in the presence of God. People and things are anointed to symbolize the introduction of a sacramental or divine influence, a holy emanation, spirit or power.

It physically means a hand rubbed oil finish. Spiritually, it's meant to symbolize the presence of God and His divine influence on the instrument and the building process. IIRC, JD prays over the basses that God would use them for His glory. He's a great Christian guy. He's prayed with me and a friend of mine more than once in the shop.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, especially noting some negative comments made here on the subject. Also, as much as I know there are those who'll think I'm a weirdo for saying so, every time I play the Warrior for a church service, something special happens. Something good comes out of me that is atypical of me (maybe good because of that ;)). At least for me, there's something to this and it's real.

Yup, the praying over the bass really really shows. That thing really shines at Church(Vic and I attend the same one.)

You know, they had some bad press early on (and rightfully so), but ask anyone who has played one of the recent ones, and they will tell you that they are incredible instruments! It is one of the 3 nicest basses I have ever played!

I'm getting a Warrior in today from a guy who wants to trade and I'm curious how long ago the bad press was and what it was for.

thanks
