Warwick $1300 for $499.99

Not a Warwick specialist, sorry if the deal is not as good as it looks!

The % off looks great at first until one matches up the specs to the Chinese Rockbass and then realizes the list should be more like $729 instead of $1300.

I went through all the pdf's currently listed for Warwick under every "made in" category and could not find one streamer with a $1300 list.

Good eye, though!

An Amazon example of this exact bass qualified as the single worst new instrument I have ever seen in working on gear for over forty years, and by a substantial margin. Stay away at anything but scrap, part-out price. The body is made of cheap framing spruce, too soft to keep the screws that hold it together, and that's if you get a good one, which is pretty unlikely.

I'm pretty sure the bodies are Paulownia, which some of the offshore builders seem to use as an alternate to basswood for light bodies.

As mentioned above, a lame example of a falsely inflated MSRP in order to make it look like a real deal. The street price on these is $500ish, so this is no special price at all.

Wrong.

Check the description, "Carolena," which turns out to be nothing but utility-grade, Home Depot Carolina spruce, reeking of turpentine, looking and smelling like random scraps from a construction site burn pile. The abortion I got was made up of pieces with radically different saw angles, sanded down grossly wrong with a grain-eroded surface, then dipped in a tub of drippy orange goo, the "oil finish," which had giant runs all over the front and back. Obviously, the one I got was made up of all reject/damaged components just to ship a unit (QC tag OKing it, of course  ), but even the "good" replacement with a real finish was junk thanks to the soft body and bad CNT settings.
