Warwick Corvette needs less mids-help

I'm looking for a set of strings, probably nickel, that will give a hefty low end and cut the mids. I play a warwick corvette standard 4 and the density of the bubinga wood has a strong high mid sound. The best description I've heard is 'farty.'--very true.

Using the "Wind Tasting" chart I've narrowed it down to a few. What do you all think, any other recommendations for fat bottoms, cut mids, and gentle to moderate treble?

Warwick Yellow labels-the description is that they have full low mids- perhaps that could even things out?

I have a custom Corvette Standard 5 string and an FNA Jazzman 5 string. I use DR Low Riders on both and they cut the mids way down. Best strings I have used on my Warwicks. The Standard has active pickups and active electronics. The FNA has Barts and an active Bart pre-amp. Give the DR's some playing time to break in. They will then last a crazy long time and provide punch and clarity. I gig regularly and they last months.

DR Sunbeams have less mids then Lo-Riders. Lo-riders have lower mid punch and sweet highs. Great strings.

Another fan of lowriders here. I use them on my corvette 5 string $$. You could always turn down the mids with the mid knob.




Yes, I know there is no mid knob.

I put a MEC 3 setup (with a mid knob) in a Corvette Standard... sucked!! There is reason the Standard doesn't have one. The MEC 3 added a ton of mids so you could adjust them but even with the mids off it sounded very "honky". My new Standard was custom ordered with an ash body, active pickups and a MEC 2 active tone circuit. Also a brass adjustable nut. It kills! Here's a pic. My FNA Jazzman has all Bartolinis in it including the pre-amp. The first and last pic are before the Bart swap. Another killer sounding instrument. By the way... they are both 5 strings with custom 32" scale necks. No farting... honking...just major punchy bass and an incredible B string.

I think I'm going to try the lo rider nickels. I do enjoy the high-mid aspect of my bubinga, I wish I could afford another bass to my collection of 1...

I think a change of strings, some good EQ'in and I can get that sound in my head. Either way, Warwicks sound unique to me, and I love that.
