Warwick corvette

I think it sounds like you bought it and it is only your own fault. The only thing that is shady is the blacked out logo on the truss rod cover. Despite the post about the bleached blonde thumb, the maple neck on a Corvette should at least make you look a little closer next time. Not that there are none-for example there is a Masterbuilt NT Corvette in bubinga or ash with a maple neck. But if you see one, you should look more closely.

The Korean models from past were more in line with the price point of the German Pro Series (GPS) as a middle ground between the custom Masterbuilt shop and the Rockbass line. I think the Alien deluxe may still be manufactured in Korea. The Corvette Prolines were budget friendly German made basses in the 90s. They were the first bolt on necks at Warwick.

Good luck ever buying anything on Ebay again in the future if you don't pay and take a non paying buyer hit for it. The seller is superbly rated. Not everyone selling instruments on ebay is an instrument expert, just like you bought it without knowing what you bought. My guess would be whoever owned it, likely not the seller, markered over the tiny "rockbass" font because they thought maybe people would think they owned a "real" Warwick. Fact is it is a Warwick! That's how Warwick chooses to market it. There is no Rockbass brand anymore, Warwick has chosen to brand them as Warwicks. You were not scammed, as others have said, you thought you were getting something you couldn't afford for a silly price, now you have second thoughts because you aren't getting a custom or team built German Warwick for 1/5th or less of what just a team built Warwick would sell for new. You not knowing what you were buying doesn't make the seller a con artist, pay the man/woman, simple.

It looks like the Rockbass Corvette Premium to me. I think you got a good price for what you’re getting. Sell it if you don’t like it, but it may surprise you.

For what it’s worth, my Rockbass Streamer LX is a great bass, especially for the money. I sold an MIA Fender P after I got it because it was just so much better to me.

It’s kinda like advertising a Squier Affinity as a Fender Jazz bass, it’s not completely wrong but....?
Agreed, it's borderline shady. Like selling a G&L but not bothering to mention that it's a Tribute model (I've seen this).

We don't know who blacked out "Rockbass" but if it's the seller I would never want to deal with that person. It's like my Mexican Fender where a previous owner had removed the "Made in Mexico" decal.

Try again. The Corvette Proline was a $1500+ bass in 2002 when I purchased mine (plus extra for custom options and hard case).

Not a "budget friendly" line, at all.
Yes, I don't think "budget" can be used with the Warwick Rockbass line, they're more affordable versions but there's nothing cheap about it. I owned a Rockbass Corvette previously and it was certainly better than a number of my other basses.

Hi guyz, I've just won auction on ebay. Warwick corvette 5 with case for 400$+50$ shipping. I'm just too scared to pay and get scammed. I was writing to the seller and asked him to send more detailed pictures and he told me that its in great condintion and looks like new. So, forst of all, is it THE Warwick? Is it possible do identify it with serial number or something? The guy seems a good seller tho, 200+ feedback and 100% positive. Also is there any way Ebay pays you back or sometimg if you get scammed? I know I'm paranoid right now but 450$ is a lot for me, I've to pay it with a debt. Here are listing pictures of the bass. Thank you guyz for your attention

Dude, relax. Looks like a great price for Warwick's Chinese line Rockbass Corvette Passive 5 string.
I have the Rockbass Corvette Basic Passive which has a natural satin finish and is 32" scale also made in China.
It's a fine bass. It isn't as nice as a German made Warwick, but is still a fine bass.

Plus yours has a nice flame maple top.

You didn't get scammed unless there is a misrepresentation by the seller and I don't see anything that is a misrepresentation. I wouldn't consider the marker over the 'ROCKBASS' graphic an issue because you can still plainly see it. May I ask how old you are? Is this your first bass?

Go on REVERB and look at other Warwick Rockbass Corvettes and you’ll see clearly that you did fine.

FTR, a Corvette Proline in 2002 listed for $1799 USD, compared to $1199 for a Corvette Standard, $1899 for a Thumb Bolt-On, or $2099 for a Streamer LX with exactly the same construction as the Corvette Proline.

Couple things to address here:

1) That is definitely a Warwick Rockbass Premium
2) The new ones have Wenge fretboards just like the normal German ones. We'd need a serial# to check this.
3) Pickups, bridge, tuners, straplocks and nut on this style Rockbass are all the same as the german ones.
4) Major differences are preamp, fret material (brass vs nickel) and neck/body woods. So that's that whole debate.
5) Some of the "high end" Warwicks will still have non exotic woods and/or nickel frets. So..... see "4)" above.

Regarding the marker over the RockBass logo, I will admit that I'd be inclined to black it out as well, but I'd never sell it on without being explicit that it is a RockBass model.

I've been a bit unreasonably snobbish over the RockBass line, over the years, because I have a Custom Shop Made in Germany model.

I no longer have that kind of money in my life, and I'm seriously considering a RockBass Fortress 5 with an ash body, which I will be not at all embarrassed to play. I'm also almost definitely going to buy a fretted RockBass Corvette Basic short scale to pair with my fretless Corvette Proline.

This is a RockBass. F yeah! You can't argue with something this beautiful.

Honestly, just keep an eye out on the typical resale sites and you can probably get a German Fortress One/R&B for less than a new Rockbass.

Not sure what you're paranoid about. You bought a Warwick, won the auction, and you're getting it. I think $450 is a nice price for that bass. What is the scam you think is going on? Why didn't you ask for all this BEFORE you bid?

My buddy has a Corevette Rockbass I've been borrowing and it's actually outstanding, I'm very surprised how good it feels and sounds for a "low-end" instrument. This bass looks legit and all, if that's your concern. I get the impression the seller just covered up "Rockbass" for his own reasons. Basically like when someone puts a Fender logo on an All-Parts neck.

Hmm I have mixed feelings about this whole ordeal. It appears that the seller is sorta scammy and tried to mask the fact that the bass was a RockBass. At the same time I opened this thread, saw the bass, and instantly new it was a Rockbass without reading anything. The price is fair for what it is. I think the thing that irks me the most though is that buyers like OP are exactly what's wrong with EBay. When you bid, you are AGREEING to pay for the item. In fact Ebay even says "if you bid on this, you are agreeing to buy this item". I'm an honest guy that sells on Ebay every once in awhile. I try to list everything I can about the item as honestly as possible. But yet I still occasionally get people who bid on an item who 1.Decide for whatever reason to not answer any of my messages and never pay for the item. 2. Live in a country outside of where I'm willing to ship to. Even though I write in the description CONUS only, and have it set to only ship to the us somehow they still get to bid on my item. It sucks. An auction is typically set for 7 days. So if someone bids and doesn't pay for whatever reason, that's a whole week wasted in trying to sell it. Then you have to wait something like 2 days before you can even make a dispute, then they have another 2 days to respond before it even gets cancelled and you can try and sell it again. Rant over.. JS buyer is about as much in the wrong as the seller is on this one.

Actually that is not at all the case. It is a Warwick. Go on the Warwick website. They are Warwick basses, but made in China. More like Fenders made in Mexico. They are not marketed as being made by a lesser company owned by another company like Squire or Epiphone. My warranty on my Warwick Rockbass Corvette is from Warwick. There is no sub company called Rockbass. It is a line of basses of Warwick that are more affordable because they are made in Asia rather than Germany. All my case candy says Warwick.

I was the only bidder, if it was't me, no winner then. I know its not fair not to pay, but don't think its a big sin :D If I won after like 30 bids, then it would be shame not to pay

I get you, and in your case you didn't know it was a rockbass. You really shouldn't pay for a bass you don't want. You'll never end up being happy with it and will have to try and sell it again. I'm just saying in the future please don't bid on something you don't plan on paying for. Just because you were the only bidder doesn't mean other people weren't looking. It's very possible that someone saw your bid and was like "it's not worth competing for a higher price." and just didn't bid. Regardless, it's against the rules to bid on something you don't plan on buying, and if you do it enough you WILL get banned. It just gives Ebay a bad name. It's part of the reason so many sellers/buyers here on talkbass hate Ebay so much.

Starting price was 399$ and i just bid 400$. its all about my ignorance, I know guyz, alright? I never did a thing like this! bought over 40 items on auctions. But this time, I just hadn't time to research, I asked to seller if he could send me more detailed and close looking pics, and he wasnt too friendly, just told me that bass was in a great condition like new. Then I get doubts, because once I heard that people are buying good rating ebay accounts and use it for their evil plans, scamming lots of people. My heart was beating like a drum machine the last second I bid. It's about my ignorance, if I knew that it was rockbass and not The Warwick, I wouldn't bid
