Warwick Love - Worth the Weight?

this you slug?:D

all kinds of gainz!! - i used to love the hodgetwins haha.

i am right into my bodybuilding and so is the rest of my band (Anavar...i mean cmon) and i found having a strong body does wonders for handing heavy instruments. Obviously not everyone can just pack on some muscle to help with shows so a thick strap does work wonders.

Man you got my down to the T!. I cant believe someone on here watches the Hodgetwins as well! Rock on man but yea getting into body building is awesome and also a social/food killer lol. Strict diets and lifting hard then jamming when I come home is a perfect day! I just need to stay healthy long enough to get back into the game.

hodgetwins made me laugh so much. helped me keep clear or BS supplements too (although i do love my prework out haha)

trying to stay fit while playing in a band is super hard, but the benefits are amazing. Handling cabs and backline when i was on tour with Thy Art Is Murder was piss easy. carrying them upstairs was no problem. but when the practical use is gone in you're at home, staring into another plate of steamed chicken and rice while your mates are out on the town drinking and having fun. then it sucks. plus playing my thumb bass with sore arms and shoulders sucks big time.

all them squats give you a mean power stance on stage though haha

Yea I remember doing legs the day before a show and about 10 minutes into it things got rough lol. But for sure it made making transporting equipment much easier and less of a hassle on everyone else. Now if clubs served some grilled chicken and broccoli, then I think some places would find a lot more people suprisingly.

This workout talk has me feeling kinda guilty. Don't do a lot of weights, but some. Mainly concentrate on cardio stuff like running around a track here in the neighborhood. Lately I've been slacking on even that. I really need to get back into it with regularity. Did a gig this past weekend and I could definitely tell the difference between how I felt moving equipment after not working out versus how I felt doing it after maintaining a regular exercise regimen. Time for some self-discipline for me. Low carbs, plenty of veggies, regular exercise, moderate on the alcohol intake... the whole bit.

A decade-plus ago I was huge on Warwicks.
- My favorite one (for weight, looks, and sound), though, was the Bleach Blonde Thumb - all flamed maple all the time, which kind of runs counter to the whole Warwick deal anyway
- It was lighter than its fretless Thumb 4 BO counterpart I had at the same time, for sure. (normal ovangkol/wenge/ebony/brass setup)
- My Dolphin 5 was heavy as hell, as mentioned earlier in the thread by another Dolphin player
- The Buzzards (fretless 4 BO and fretted 8 BO, zebrawood bodies) were IMHO perfectly weighted, though the 8's huge peghead threw off the balance and I couldn't reach all the tuners while wearing the bass...
- I had a Streamer for a hot second but I just didn't like it, so I have no weight comment.

I'd say the blonde and the fretlesses (Thumb and Buzzard) were definitely worth their weight. The rest maybe not so much. This also may be owing to the fact that I discovered I didn't like the typical ovangkol/wenge/brass combo Warwick generally uses. I *loved* the ebony boards on the fretlesses, and I loved the maple on the Blonde, but the 'standard' combo didn't do much for me. Guess that's why I'm not a huge Warwick guy now.

Been eye-balling The Buzzards for a while now. I love the way they look, but I'd really like to try one out. Not sure where I'd find one around. I doubt my local GC has one, but I could be wrong. All just idle curiosity / tire kicking at best though, as I have no intentions of buying another bass anytime soon. Price-wise well out of my range for the near-term.
