Hey guys. I played a Corvette the other day and I love it. It feels so nice and light compared to my Fender. So what are the major differences between the Corvette and the Rockbass Corvette. The pickups are the same right? What are the major differences. Unfortunatly $1000 is not in the budget right now.

Get on Ebay and look for some corvettes, usually go for around $600-$700. Avoid the rockbass, it is like the Squire series Fenders, inferior woods and electronics.

with some hunting you can probably find a similar deal.

Please weigh your Fender for us- I've had Warwicks that weighed nearly twice the average Fender's weight.
On topic, Rockbasses are not awful but a German-made Warwick will usually blow it out of the water. To open an old can of worms, pre 98 models are(IME/IMO)nicer in terms of build quality, fit & finish.

This is the one I played [This invalid link has been removed] but I think it had Basslines in it.

I loved it. I really like the unfinished neck. It feels so organic.

That is a lefty. If I had $500(and the neck is wenge)I'd buy it & string it righty. Lefty's don't sell as well, but you might even be able to sell it later for a slight profit.

I got me a Corvette Standard for less than $600 thanks to the fact that the resale value on 'Wicks is absolutely horrible. Use that to your advantage and avoid the Rockbasses.

Ash Corvettes are light, bubinga Corvettes are really heavy.

IMHO, bubinga Corvettes feel a lot better to play, back-crushing weight and all.

MOST Warwicks are heavy, IME.
Edit: In my experience, ALL Warwicks are heavy.


I have a 98 Corvette FNA- ash body, maple top, wenge neck. Heavy but well balanced, sounds incredible.

The bubinga corvettes may be heavy, but they are also very well balanced and comfortable to play on a strap for a lengthy period of time.

There's nothing wrong with the Rockbass stuff per se, esp when compared to other budget lines they come out quite favourably. However, because of the generic woods used (maple and alder etc I believe?), cheaper hardware and electronics, they don't sound typically 'Warwick', more 'generic low end bass'

same pickups and electronics than in a warwick .

You're better with the real thing if the wick sound is what you seek since a rockbass will never sound like a warwick much.

I second what was said above. The ash ones are really light. The bubinga ones are usually a ton of bricks.

it's not left handed, the pics were taken with a webcam and flipped. Look at the Streamer STD writing on the truss rod cover
