warwick vs fender

I have not ever played a Warwick, so I cannot comment on them. I have however played the new 08' J and P basses(both passive) and I think they are stellar instuments. So much so that I ordered 2 lefty P-basses yesterday.

Seriously, who would even compare these two? Both companies build incredibly high quality basses, but are aimed at fairly opposite markets. Warwick uses exotic woods, neck through designs, uses interesting laminating techniques etc. etc. Fender builds great meat and potatoes basses, solid colours(although I have seen some really nice wood ones, but still no bubinga NT p-bass) and a classic timeless design.

The question is: what do you want in a bass?
