What is is about Warwick that makes you love them so much!!!!! I'm obsessed with only Warwick (and Lakland) basses!!!!!!

I like the smaller frets and narrower string spacing of Warwicks, not to mention the killer tone from my Corvette has yet to be beat by any higher end bass I've ever owned (including my stage II !) The natural finish of most Warwicks is also very attractive to me. It looks real, as in not like a piece of furniture or a wishbass at the other end of the spectrum

I own a German Streamer Std. and a 55-01.

I find the Warwick plays a good deal easier than my Lakland especially with the tight spacing and 34" as opposed to 35".

The electronics on the Lakland seem to be a bit better. The Warwick does 'growl' very well but if you put it in a setting with a keys player, horn section and guitarist it can sound a little out of place. I like it best used with some tubey fuzz for my 80's hair metal band and classic covers like Zeppelin and modern day rock stuff like Killers or White Stripes. On the other hand the Lakland's versatility is suited to the Jazzy Christmas gigs or a real modern tone that can hit No Doubt or rock a Stevie Wonder redition or two.

I'm using TI Jazz flats on the Lakland and Nickel webstrings on the Warwick. I find it makes for a nice mix (and justification for owning more than one bass).

that to my ears, the thumb sounds like the way bass is supposed to sound. I can't get over it. I've tried. And I don't even own a warwick (that's the hard part)

I have a love hate relationship with Warwicks. Some models that I've played I have simply fallen in love with, SS2, Thumb BO 5 yet it also varies from bass to bass. I've played some nice Vette 4's and some crap ones.

Some of them I love, some of them I hate. Thumbs are nice enough, they sound good and play well.

The Hellborg model, though I've never played it myself, sounds absolutely incredible.

Seriously, though, I love the sound, balance, playability, and w-i-d-e spacing of my SSI 5 strings.

I am also a huge fan of the way a Thumb sounds, but I don't have one of those. Yet.

Not really a fan of Laklands. With the exception of the Darryl Jones 5 (and yes, that includes the US models I've played).

LOVE Laklands - I have a 55-94.

Would not play Warwicks if they paid me to do so. Don't like the feel, tone, or the ethics of a company that refused to pay an agreed fee for the use of a design.

I love my Fretless Corvette. I'll be buying a fretted neck thru Warwick something or other next. I never played a Lakeland that I couldn't live without though.

I dig lakland as well but dont see myself owning one.

Their newer ones have been hit and miss.

I would about murder someone with a spoon for a 94' Dolphin 4.

Most reasonable one I can see me owning is a mid 90's Thumb 6 NT.

Love most Warwicks, but some are just not my cup of tea. I would love Lakland too if it wasn't for that fugly bridge design they have going on

I love my wick because it just sounds so good. I love the natural tones without any eq at all. They're also very attractive instruments.

Mine's a Corvette fretless fiver.

LOVE IT.

I started with a Ovangkol Thumb BO - incredible wood sound, almost like a stand up bass with the right settings - but neck heavy for sure - DR hi beams is a great sound after they break in. sometimes have to bring up mids and highs to cut through mix, but gorgeous tone in trio or quieter setting.

I then went and got an older 96 Fortress Masterman. Brighter sound and fatter neck, but better balance. Great to play and cuts through the mix better, but still that earthy tone (probably Wenge neck and fretboard). Better for slap.

Now I am wondering what a neck through would be like...but its really like a monkey on my back because I dont need it...just want more.

I think for me, it's the tone and feel of their instruments. I've tried so many other types of basses, and Warwicks were the only ones that seemed to feel/sound right...
