Was there a serious price increase from Rickenbacker

Woods, metals, and paints have doubled in price from what they were in sweet old Autumn 2019.

Edit, just remembered that a few days ago I saw a quart of milk priced at what I used to get gallons for.

The value of the dollar for goods has dropped. It will continue to drop. That’s part of how it’s designed. It does suck that it did a big drop in what is hopefully the end of The Pandemic.

Lumber, for example has 3-4x in price over the past year. Refrigerators, are almost impossible to find - ours just started to die and we were lucky to find one and have it delivered in four days. Our neighbor said it took them 3 months to find a replacement. We encountered a lot of "Out of stock" when searching. Anyways, back to basses... Just take a look at Best Bass Gear and see how many items are out of stock. These are the same supply chains that are making the parts for the manufacturers like Ric. Labor costs have gone up as well.

The best way to buy now is to buy used and find someone that doesn't realize that prices have increased so much.

Hey bud, don't post about price increases. There are corporate defenders here en masse!

Do you understand basic business 101?
If employee salaries go up every year, cost of lumber goes up every year, cost of shipping got goes up, etc, do you think list prices will go down?

Its not defending. Its trying to explain business 101 to people that refuse to understand.

I work for a very large global business. The list price of our products goes up 3% every year. Care to hazard a guess what the average yearly raise is?

Every new guitar and bass has increased in list price 10-15% this year.
Every (EVERY) pedal has increased $30-50 this year.
Cables increased, amps, avocados, cheeseburgers at your favorite drive through, sneakers, and your cellphone bill. You can fight back by not buying during a global supply chain shortfall.

We used to import a majority of "domestic" hardwood from Canada at great prices.
Sometime during the last four years we just... inexplicably ripped up and threw away those trade agreements. Don't ask me why.
So hardwood is more expensive now. Go figure.

To clarify to some of the idiots I mean folks on here that obviously didn't understand what I was trying to say in the first place, I've always known how much Wildwood Guitars sells there Rickenbacker basses for, I was shocked to see that they were showing a actual price for a new 4003 and actual a very high price considering they never post prices before, so I was wondering if these were special run 4003 basses but from what the specs said they are just normal 4003 basses so then I was wondering either these are actual prices now or maybe they are retail prices showing which by the way Wildwood Guitars have never shown retail prices on Rickenbacker instrument before so I was just trying to figure out if anybody here on TalkBass knew anything but instead I get people crucifying me about prices and I was not.
Wildwood has sold regular 4003 basses brand new anywhere between $1500.00 to $1800.00 so when I saw the pricing for well over $2000.00 I had to ask the question.
Excuse me for asking!!!!

I got a brand new Ric 620/12 from Wildwood a couple weeks ago - listed on the site for $2,209 but the price to me after I e-mailed was $1,749 shipped (no tax yet for CT). So almost $500 less than listed price. You just have to call or e-mail.

As always with Wildwood the guitar arrived perfectly set up and is beautiful.
