Was there a serious price increase from Rickenbacker

I went looking for a 4003 last year and they were all around $2,000. The limited edition models were $2,400 give or take so this doesn’t seem unreasonable. But as others have said, RIC does not allow dealers to post the actual price, only MSRP so you are better off contacting the dealer.

I'm surprised that they posted the price at all. That must be list or MAP. I was quoted $1449 for an "S" model last November..... when they were out of stock. That's about $150 over what I paid for the last one. But now they're adding sales tax too. At least they still ship for free.

That was the reason I posted this info, Wildwood Guitars has never posted prices on Ricks before not even retail prices so I thought it was weird when they posted these prices, I thought maybe they are one-offs or something but after looking at the specs they looked like normal 4003 basses so I had to ask.

One of the big box places will sell you a 4003S for (gulp) $1799. That's the price they tell you when you "ask" - not a price listed online. They'll probably go down from there, from what I hear, but not more than 10%. That seems like... a lot for a 4003S. You can find them cheaper but I don't know how much anymore, and if the big box price (ok, no seceret, it was MF) has changed in the last year or more.

Yeah... for the longest time Guitar Center did not list the prices for Rics - you had to call or email to get it.

Just noticed this from Wildwood Guitars:

[This invalid link has been removed]

The pricing they are selling at is pretty high from what that normally ask for.

$1850.00 is what Wildwood is selling them for....that is factory list price on the website...but in case you had not noticed a lot of manufacturers have raised prices recently by at least a $100.00 to $200.00 citing an increase in the cost of raw materials...
