Hey but there's nothing wrong with the fact that he looked good doing it, Paul!

Where did I say it was un-cool not to look good while performing?
OT...I think this has been one of our best threads......I just hate to see it end like this.....

I love to watch almost all bassists! I just meant that I didn't think that Red was intentionally setting out to be a showman.
Wow....Sounds like you don't love me anymore.....why would you think that I would think that I would object to you having an opinion?????????
What the hells going on around here?![]()

I think he was just funin' ya Paul, at least I hope he was. If not, you know that old saying: f*** 'im if he can't take a joke!!![]()
This thread won't devolve into something bad because no one is arguing, we all think Red was one of the greatest musicians who ever touched the DB.

Darn you're right, I forgot he couldn't swing! ALSO. What's the deal with Red playing a 5 string DB?!?! JACO ONLY NEEDED 4!!!!Yeah right....but could he swing?????![]()

OK Paul, For a start, I never said anywhere that Red was intentionally setting out to be a showman they are your words...and further more, I objected to your statement to me Quote " Red was not a showman power. The only thing on Reds mind was.... Music"Unquote. as if to infer that I should not have a comment on the subject! It was the way you said it that I didn't like! OK, I feel better now,
And in closing, I might add that when I STARTED this topic off some 206 Threads back on June 4 2004,
this Thread has refused to lie down and, keeps re-surfacing every now and then as someone else finds another Red Mitchell Gem to share with us fellow Bassists.
Back on June 4 2004 I just tuned into this Jazz Program on Cable not knowing who was on D/Bass and caught my first vision of Red Mitchell performing a 1 hour concert with the Oliver Jones Band and, was SO MOVED by this Bassist I had to come straight up stairs from my music room, get on line and rave to you lot on T/Bass on just how wonderful a Bass Player that Red was and, how much he had moved me by his playing ABILITY AND SHOWMANSHIP! and I still say that!!!!!
Hey mate, as we say in America: Dude.......chill!!!
Just found this
