Watches ... Yes/No ? (now with poll)

So...do you?

A discussion at work yesterday seemed to indicate wearing a watch is a rarer thing. Of 59 people working on shift, only 7 of us were wearing a watch.
10 others said they do wear one but not at work, 3 more only wear one on very special occasions.
I found it interesting. It was all 45+ guys that were wearing a watch, most of the younger folk didn't even own one at all, which I found surprising, as I've always thought a watch one of those perfect gifts to mark important dates...21st birthday, graduation, etc.

I should say that the numbers were better for women in our dispatch department. 7 out of 8 of them wore one.

Curious how the numbers look elsewhere.

And for visual proof, here's my watch I wear about 97% of the time. A Casio, about 50euro. All the watch I need

35. Mostly no. Most of the people I know don't wear them.

Either I've got good taste in cheap watches from Target or there's some rule that some parents teach their kids that you're socially obligated to compliment anyone wearing a watch on their "nice" watch that my parents didn't teach me.

I have to limit how often I wear them due to how good I am at breaking the "crystal".

I wear one, but i’m a bit of a nerd & quite like them.

It’s funny that wrist watches (supposedly) replaced pocket watches as the army decided it was too fiddly having to take something out of your pocket to check the time. And now people don’t wear them so much because they can just check their phones.... which are usually kept in their pockets.

On another note, I see mostly people wearing fitness trackers these days, i think.

Used to, don't as much. I'm hard on them, so things like the smaller G-Shock tended to be what survived...I prefer an analog, but I kill them.

I guess the one I've used most recently is some sort of Timex that I picked up off the ocean floor during a dive, which hadn't been lost by anyone on our dive boat, so I can legitimately call it trash ;-)

I have issues with fit, I swell and shrink and end up readjusting a lot. I've used an analog pocket watch (new and cheap, not old and expensive) but I'm not super into it (still have it, haven't killed that yet) and need a new battery. So I guess I let it die, but it should be recoverable.

I also can't wear a wristwatch when I play bass, interferes with my wrist action too much.

I have become one of those folks that uses a 2-3/4 x 5-1/2 inch glassy pocketwatch with additional functions. Being a tuner that can actually hear my bass is one of those functions...

I got out of the habit. I realized that the last watch I wore got some poison ivy oil on the band after it made my wrist break out again after it had healed. I don't 'do' cell phones, so I rely on clocks and the time readout on my computers. I do have a watch that I can clip onto a belt loop if I need to when I am out mowing, but I don't own a working wrist watch.

Stealthy jewelry? I feel naked without one. I don't mind that though, actually, sometimes :smug:

I have a citizen promaster WR100 that has some race-bred features (mari-time): in one mode you get a countdown — ten minutes out; five minutes; one minute; ten seconds; five seconds; GO. I don't race anymore but I rarely miss appointments :)

I also have a big face fella, made for Mr. Magoo, among others, but those two serve nicely.
