Answer: Google.

Simply Google up "dog gifs " in an image search. A billion will pop up. Click on an image. Then right click on it. Then click "download images". You now own it.

That avatar is giving me seizures... aghzzzzhkkkkk!

There's a GIF shop, called Flowers City, in the Asian Plaza in Cleveland............. Really!

I'm not keen on the manic gifs, they make my head hurt.

The slower changing ones are ok (IMO, YMMV of course).

A change in server image processing software several weeks ago apparently made this possible without me realizing I think a poll might be in order.

I turned them off in preferences, but I still see them. Even after logging out/in and trying a different browser.

I disabled avatars because the animations drive me nuts. But I’d prefer to go back to old-school static avatars.

They are off for me in threads, but still annoying in lists (i.e I don't see them now, but the vastly annoying BS is flashing away when I pop back up to the "Off topic" listing.)

Please apply the freeze ray before something ugly happens.

The ideal solution might be these options in Preferences (though it could be messy technically):

• Display All Avatars
• Display Only Static Avatars
• Don’t Display Avatars
