I think my favorite part of this thread is Jauqo in the middle of all the back and forth about metal and pointy basses trying to get clarification on who the haters hating are. Oh man this thread is great. Wish I jumped in earlier.

The dude who doesn't buy any album released on any format except WORDPAD, thats metal. If its been released on any other format, its way too mainstream.

For the record, I just read it all through, and in the time it took, listened to For Whom The Bell Tolls four times. I can't, for the life of me, figure out what this all-dominating Cliff Burton Masterpiece bass line is that this guy who got booed by the OP and subsequently crucified by TheSaqless couldn't play. It's all just thumping around on the root with the guitars! I mean, if it was like the Orion solo or something and he played it wrong, I'd get it, maybe sorta, (hah! Orion!) but... what? I almost want to look for the hidden camera, like I'm missing some kind of inside joke...

To be fair, I'm very much a "metal" guy....and I'd take a Stuart Zender era Jamiroquai bassline over anything Cliff ever recorded!
