Hmmm. This could be debatable. Both George and Louis did TONS of session work for Quincy Jones (George Benson, Patti Austin, and the list goes on). Their name may not have been on the marquis, but their work is nonetheless just as solid as B.E.'s or N.R.'s stuff. QJ's "The Dude" is one of my all time favorites. By the way, on that same album, check out the last cut, "Turn on the Action". I keep forgetting who plays the bass on that song (not Johnson) even tho I have the album (I keep saying album-I mean CD!) That is one crazy bass line in my book, but such FUN to play.:bassist:

I'm not dogging the Brothers Johnson, however, they did nothing without Quincy Jones as their producer. The Chic guys went on to become a killer outside production team and both Nile and Bernard turned out tons of work as solo producers.

Nathan Watts is Stevie Wonder's bassist..i think for 25 years or more......

Racism is manipulation of the masses by the "powers that be" so that the "many" (all of us) don't come together and get rid of the few that control the "many"....

i've been around the world 3 times and everywhere i went people were gracious and open on a individual level..:cool:

So true! I was in a band with Tony Cintron (drummer) and Phil Hamilton (guitar). Tony recruits a sax player named Sandy Anderson! Dude was a monster and when he came to first rehearsal, we literally stopped playing because our jaws were all on the floor! Literally! Well, one day, dude comes in with case! Hmmm....didn't look like a sax case to me! He pulls out a Fender Jazz and asks if he could plug in my amp! Why oh why did I let him?? Still SMH to this very day! LOL! Well, dude proceeds to tear a hole in my @$$ playing every hot lick out at the time including some very difficult Louis Johnson, Stanley Clarke and whoever else was tearing it up on the scene! Suffice it to say, I knew my time in the band was coming to and end (and it did!). The band re-grouped (with additional new members) and resulted in Unlimited Touch (of Searching To Find The One fame)!! We also had a flute player in our band (Zerrick Williams) and damn if he too brought a bass in one day and did the same thing! Oh boy did I have to go woodshedding bigtime! It was 15 years before I joined another band!!

Wow! My friend Aaron Clay used to play for Najee, and one day the keyboardist asked to play his bass. Oh, the keys player? Morris Pleasure from E,W,&F! :eek: Aaron told me that he snatched his bass and told Mo to never touch it again.

Yeah, I've heard stories about 'Mo'! Dude is nasty! Same with Gerald Albright! You'd think dude would be just an adequate bassist? Nah!! Can throw down with the best of them! Geez!:hmm:

How come no one ever seems to mention Wilton Felder. He did some killer lines on Grant Green's Live at the Lighthouse, Jimmy Smith's Root Down, and a host of other albums, and I think he played bass on the Jackson 5's I Want You Back.
