As I continue to add Radial products to my website, the number of new categories and necessary menu items felt like it was getting out of hand. I decided to start fresh and really put an eye towards organization and simplicity with the website menus. So there are now just 3 main top-level menus:
  • Guitar
  • Bass
  • Stage & Studio
Everything guitar-related (instruments, amps, pedals, strings, straps, etc.) is now under that one "Guitars" menu. Same goes for the Bass menu.

Stage & Studio is where I've stashed everything in pro-audio world: microphones, DI boxes, line mixers, etc.

I'm digging it, but that may just be because I designed it and understand it. Hopefully nothing is hard to find for everyone else who uses the site regularly. Strings and pedals, for instance, both used to be separate top-line menu items, but now they're tucked under the Guitar and Bass menus.

One other thing I did was get rid of the sub-menu approach that I used frequently where I had separate sub-menus for "All Brands", "Brand 1", Brand 2", etc. Now when you select the Pedals menu, for instance, you get a list of every pedal from every brand. There's a "Brand" filter available that lets you dial in on a specific brand or two if you want to narrow down the list. Anyway, that move was born out of my "simplify" mindset. The functionality still exists thanks to the filter, it's just no longer cluttering up the menu system.

Feel free to check it out and leave me some feedback here. I'd love to hear opinions, good or bad.

I decided to add a topline menu called "Shop By Brand". That will let you go straight to whatever brand you might be looking for on the website.

I've only got a few brands under that menu at the moment, but I plan to spend the rest of today (and maybe some of tomorrow) adding all of the other brands that I carry.
