wow two sandbergs on the list, at least one related to Oliver Riedel. Guess he's got to stand out some how.

Those don't count as weird basses in my book, for the most part there's some fairly normal P and J style instruments with silly body shapes and a couple of Wishbasses.

Pretty much anyone with some Google skills could do this and the author of this page hasn't tried very hard since all the photos come from the alt.guitar.bass site. And all they are is pictures no information to back up what they are showing.

IMO weird instruments aren't just unconventional body shapes, but also innovative design ideas and construction techniques that combine to make instruments that play and sound amazingly as well as looking great.

Try the following for basses that not only look weird but are also great musical instruments:
