"People"? The only "people" that should be plugging anything into it is the owner of the amp. If other people are doing so, there's a bigger problem. As noted above, there is protection circuitry for the wrong load. Most owners of a Mesa bass amp aren't going to be plugging random stuff into it anyway. Moreover, there is no software involved, reducing the potential of malicious activity significantly. All in all, I am not sure what the negative is. It's a positive. If you don't agree, it's a free market. Spend your money elsewhere. I don't have much more breath to spare on the topic.

It's just power as I understand it.

Correct, it's dedicated to charging only, the data lines are 100% isolated from the world.

I'm still thanking him for integrating high-pass filters into his designs! @agedhorse is the amp-whisperer. I went to purchase an Fdeck-3 to put in front of my PF-20T a few days ago and discovered that they are no longer in production. Last night, I sprung for a Broughton high/low pass filter, which like the Fdeck, can be battery powered. I don't use effects and didn't want to be bothered with a wall-wart...

Ever?... (well, after age 14 when I discovered the hard way that any drink with alcohol makes me near-deathly ill...)

(I have removed beer from my amp that wasn't mine. I don't reckon that counts....?...)

(Don't ask me about the time the band thought it would be funny to give me a birthday Sprite that they spiked with Pure Grain Alcohol.....)
