Weird signature model feature.

Part of the hard-core aging process. Do some ‘shrooms while changing strings on the tour bus and see what happens in the morning...
Yea but.... Why? It looks like they let some kindergarten kids Into the finishing booth to let loose with with a screwdriver.
I’ve seen this so often on instruments that don’t have the Saf T post hole and slot, so I don’t hate it exactly.
if you just cram uncut string through the slot sideways and wind you kinda-sorta do that.
It was fashionable for a minute to leave your guitar strings long and danglin’ enough to put a few eyes out.

This here's where you put the strings. Last guy put 'em in around the strap locks. One job, don't blow it.
Who cares? He likes it on his signature, that's all that matters.
If you've seen the guitarist in that band's signature ESP, you'd see that realistic/authentic wear isn't necessarily their priority.

I'm not big on that particular model, but I'm liking Sandberg the more I look at them.
To be honest that was my first guess as well.
In either case, it's THEIR signature bass, and I think on the whole it's pretty cool. If Fender asked me to come up with a signature bass, I'd probably just ask them to make the squier series again. But I'm not "Fender asking me to come up with a signature bass" big... or at least I wasn't the last time I checked my e-mail, I'm still waiting on that one
be careful about that. someone might end up in love with the headstock...
Sometimes you need a drawing to help remember things. Hopefully it helps him wind them the right way.
