I've blown ~400 bucks trying to fix this stupid rattling thats going on in the nut. I've had it set up, I've bought a replacement nut and had a luthier replace it, the fretboard behind the nut has been sanded down to try and get it to stop rattling, I've replaced the strings...

I just wanted to see if this was a common problem or not because this is causing me a bit of frustration.

You should start a thread in the setup and repair forum. It will get more attention and suggestions. Have you spoken to EBMM support?

I wouldn't suspect the nut. I'd be looking at the tuners. There really isn't much to rattle in a nut. Tuners can rattle, though.

What he said.................I have had basses, not EBMM, but others that have needed Tuners warrantied. I had on that was driving me nuts on the E String, but only at certain frequencies..............They ended up sending me new Tuners, and it has been perfect ever since! :D

Congrats on your new H/S, Jack! I have to admit that you are one of the main reason I fell in love with the bass.

I used to not like the Bongo because of, well, the typical "toilet seat" reason but the more I read your posts at the Ernie Ball forum regarding the bass, the more I'm starting to like it. Finally I took the plunge and bought one (well, it's actually on layaway right now)!

So thank you, Lord Bongo!

................The Perfect Bass. I saw that one on e-bay right after I got mine, kinda gave me a pit in my stomach, it was quite a bit less than I paid! :eek: Oh well, someone else got a heck of a deal...............But I got the matching 4 H, and 5 H pair! ;)

What pickup configuration do you guys suggest I get? Im going to play Tool and Bullet for My Valentine. Highly aggressive. BFMV does drop C often.

Watch either of these:



I would think HH would be more aggressive, but he's using a single H, and it's REALLY cutting through and REALLY aggressive.

Any tips? I want this thing as aggressive as a wal, or more. ;)

HH rocks!!

Another fix-it question:
A friend of my father's was repairing a Bongo, with the problem being that occasionally the preamp would just shut off. He determined that the battery compartments were opened too far when changing batteries, cutting the connection to the leads. Have any of you encountered this? I know the same compartment is on all Music Man basses, but since I'll soon be the proud owner of a Bongo 6HH LE (drool...) I deemed it appropriate for this thread.

Don't worry, I handle every bass I play with kid gloves, especially new ones - but I figured I'd ask to see if this is a recurring issue.

Anyway, here it is:

Maybe when im out of college.. 14 now.

Currently have a Fender '99 MIA Jazz Standard and Lakland 55-01

Trying to trade the Jazz for the bongo, which is why i kinda jumped in this thread. Don't have one yet though! I would have to get the Ibanez SR506, my second favorite 6er, behind a bongo.

Haha, I love the enthusiasm for great instruments. When I was 14 I was playing a '98 Squier jazz... and after a few more basses, at 24, I feel I can finally justify one like this. (Although I'm still not out of university. Go figure.)

You should treat yourself to one as a graduation present or something! :hyper:
