I saw Nathan East today with Fourplay and he is, without a doubt, the best bassist ever. (Yes yes, I know, this is all IMO.) But so far, he has impressed me more than any other bassist I've ever heard. Including Claypool (my personal favorite) and Jaco and Stanley. I don't even like jazz, and it was an outstanding concert!

He played fills, trills, solos and never lost the bottom end, but every note he played was incredibly tasteful. He also scat-sang solos along with his bass, one solo even going from the highest highs to the lowest lows of his 6-string!

Best live tone I've ever heard, ever. I don't know HOW he kept his sound so deep but still so tight in an outdoor concert.

I also got to meet him for a few minutes, and he is an incredibly nice guy.
