Well, no wonder I got it cheap...

Other than the color - and the "handedness"? Yeah, the one in the top picture is my Tokai T-Bird. Bridge in the wrong spot, and all. When I get the bridge relocated, it will be just about exactly where the bridge is on the bass in the bottom picture. Which is where it's supposed to be... Mine will be located at 34" from the nut to the G string saddle, with the saddle set at about 70% forward in it's adjustment travel. Might not be exactly where the one is in the bottom picture, but it'll be very close...I wonder if this was an issue on these basses. Check out how the bridge is placed on these 2 pics I found on the web. both are Tokai TB 48s. Poor quality control?

I'm of two minds as to whether its just a screw-up, and bad QC - or whether Tokai sometimes just used different bridges, and this "mounting screws in the back" one wound up being screwed down onto a bass that was intended for a "mounting screws in the front" bridge set-up. Sadly, odds are it was just a screw-up - and bad QC. But, the fact that, with the existing screw holes, a front mounted bridge would be in the right spot is... curious.
As for the bridge itself? It's actually a very nice one. Solid brass, and pretty heavy; with pass-thru holes for the strings. The saddles are pretty much the same as the ones on My Carvin LB-20's Hipshot A bridge, with a lot of adjustment range. Just not enough to make up for the location error...
Honestly, except for the lack of a string-thru-body option, it pretty much is a Hipshot A bridge; just not as nicely polished...As for pictures? I haven't been able to upload/post them with this laptop; and yes, I've been putting off learning how for too long. My only excuse is that retiring and moving into a 92 y/o house, has kept me way busier than I was when I had a 50+ hour job. But, I'll have to remedy that - soon... I would like to be able to post pics - like I could with my dead, departed computer...
With that style bridge, should you decide to reuse, why plug holes? Moving it back 1/2” and the bridge will still be covering the old screw holes?
Mods should also delete posts made by grown adults who don't know when/where to use apostrophes...Mod’s should delete posts without pic’s when there should be pic’s!

The apostrophes are correct and indicate a contraction of a word. It might not be modern usage in some countries; however, it is correct English. Just look at your own response where you correctly used an apostrophe in “don’t”. Yes, you tried to prove me wrong by proving me correct. As an aside, you left-out a word in your response.

You were right about me leaving out a word (since corrected), but I'm pretty certain you're wrong about the apostrophes. Yes, me saying "don't" is a contraction of "do not" (ie., correct usage of an apostrophe); what is "mod's" a contraction of, or "pic's"?@HubbardsFate
Also as an aside, "left-out" contains an unnecessary hyphen.
@HubbardsFate Mod’s is a contraction of moderators. Pic’s is a contraction of pictures. Hence, the apostrophes are correct. “Left-out” is also correct.

You're wrong in both cases.
Your original post: "Mod’s should delete posts without pic’s when there should be pic’s!" - What you are saying (if you hadn't, uh, "contracted" those words) is, "Moderators should delete posts without pictures when there should be pictures." Therefore, the apostrophes are incorrect/unnecessary; there's a difference between shortening single words - ie., "moderator" and "pictures" - and contracting two words, ie., "doesn't" = "does not", "isn't" = "is not", etc.
In other words, if you had typed "mods" as a shortened version of "moderators", and "pics" as a shortened version of "pictures" - well, even that isn't necessarily "correct English", but it's a lot more correct than those misused apostrophes.

As someone else mentioned, the great condition the bass is in considering its age is possibly due to that bridge.
Owner plays it, sounds terrible anywhere above the third fret, puts it away and eventually sells it, rinse and repeat.
Finally an owner buys it who knows a bit about basses and proceeds to fix it.
